Prime Healthcare expands partnership with Omnicell to serve ‘majority of facilities within health system’

Prime Healthcare has expanded its existing partnership with Omnicell to serve what the companies claims is “a majority of facilities within the health system” in the US.

Prime Healthcare, a 45-hospital network serving 14 states, is implementing Omnicell’s new XT Series automated medication dispensing systems in seven hospitals, expanding Omnicell’s presence to over half of the facilities within its health system.

Ridecell buys Auro Robotics and launches ‘first complete’ autonomous mobility platform

Ridecell, which provides a platform for carsharing and ridesharing operators, has acquired Auro Robotics, a California-based developer of autonomous vehicle technology, in an all-stock transaction.

Ridecell also announced the public availability of its autonomous operations platform which has successfully been used in autonomous pilot programs.

Mitsubishi Fuso launches E-Fuso electric truck and plans to electrify all its vehicles

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, part of Daimler Trucks, have strengthened the commitment of their Fuso brand towards alternative drivetrains.

At the Tokyo Motor Show, MFTBC announced it will electrify its complete range of trucks and buses in upcoming years.

At this occasion, MFTBC unveiled E-Fuso as the first original equipment manufacturer to launch a product brand exclusively dedicated to electric mobility of trucks and buses.

Zeiss launches new electron microscope

Zeiss, which claims most of the world’s microchips are manufactured using its optical technologies, has launched the new generation of its scanning electron microscope system.

The company says the new instruments in the Zeiss EVO product family feature various improvements in terms of usability, image quality and seamless integration into multimodal work processes.

Calian’s systems engineering division wins contract from DCT Delta

Calian’s systems engineering division has been awarded a contract by DCT Delta.

Under the contract, Calian will design and develop a cable network DocSis 3.0/3.1 Remote PHY hardware module for DCT Delta’s family of industry-leading hybrid fiber coax-based fibre node products.

Dassault Systèmes strengthens systems engineering software with No Magic acquisition

Dassault Systèmes has reached an agreement to acquire its partner No Magic, a provider of model-based systems engineering and architecture modeling for software, and system of systems.

No Magic is headquartered in Allen, Texas and has offices in Lithuania and Thailand.

Graphene: A primer on the miracle material

Graphene is sometimes described as being two-dimensional, or 2D, which is probably more a reflection of the enthusiasm people feel about the material rather than a statement of fact since graphene is actually one atom thick. 

It may only be one single atom, but it’s still there, which means that graphene is, in fact, three-dimensional.

Another interesting thing about graphene is that the naturally occurring composite mineral it’s extracted from – graphite – has been in use for thousands of years in such things as ceramic paints, and it’s been used in pencils for decades. But only now has graphene been extracted from it and suggested for a wide array of applications.  [Read more…] about Graphene: A primer on the miracle material
