Hyundai launches humanoid robot ‘DAL-e’ for customer service

Hyundai Motor Group has launched the humanoid “DAL-e”, which it describes as a “highly advanced customer service robot” that independently communicates with people using precise recognition capabilities and mobility functions.

DAL-e is an acronym for “Drive you, Assist you, Link with you-experience”. Designed to pioneer the future of automated customer services, the DAL-e is equipped with state-of-the-art artificial intelligence technology for facial recognition as well as an automatic communication system based on a language-comprehension platform.

Dong Jin Hyun, vice president and head of the robotics lab at Hyundai Motor Group, says: “The DAL-e is a next-generation service platform that can offer automated customer services anytime. It is expected to become a messenger capable of delivering consistent messages to customers in a more intimate and personal way than conventional robots. Omron launches new SCARA robot

Omron has launched a new industrial robot, the i4 series SCARA robot, which the company says “automates high-speed, high-precision assembly and transportation with easy installation”.

The i4 series consists of an i4H medium to large sized, high-performance model and an i4L that is compact and suitable for lightweight applications.

By seamlessly integrating and controlling the “i4 series” robots and the robot-hands, or end effector, and other peripheral devices; the interlocking of each device is enabled and complicated tasks which could not be done with conventional SCARA robots are now automated. Hanwha launches new collaborative robot solutions

Hanwha has launched what it describes as “new advanced solutions”, including Hanwha Collaborative Robot Advanced (HCR Advanced) and a collaborative-robot-solutions package to continue building its momentum in the collaborative robot market that is expected to grow rapidly.

The global market for cobots was worth $1.2 billion last year, and it is expected to grow on average by 42 percent annually as more smart factories are built and the increasing demand for contactless services due to Covid-19 are expected to reach $7 billion by 2026.

In response, Hanwha is aggressively developing advanced cobots that combine Hanwha’s AI technology with its mobility capabilities. The company is integrating its robotics technology with existing logistics automation systems, secondary batteries, and display-related facilities to create synergy and satisfy the diverse needs of customers worldwide. Mitsubishi’s elevator business in China produces its one millionth unit

Mitsubishi Electric says its Shanghai Mitsubishi Elevator Company (SMEC), a joint venture company operating in China, has produced its one millionth unit.

The figure includes both elevators and escalators, and comes 34 years after starting production at the company’s Min Hung Plant in 1987.

Mitsubishi Electric, working in collaboration with SMEC, says it continues to deliver “safety, peace of mind and riding comfort in China”, the world’s largest elevator and escalator market, and maintain its “market-leading brand”. Geek+ and Universal Logic partner to develop warehouse robotics and automation

Geek+, a provider of autonomous mobile robots and warehouse automation, and Universal Logic, a developer of a software “brain” for robots, have agreed a new partnership.

Together, the two technology leaders declare a joint commitment to support the manufacturing and logistics industry with a paradigm-shifting goods-to-robot solution, for automating supply chain operations and elevating industry 4.0.

Denso partners with Aeva to bring new ‘groundbreaking’ LiDAR to market

Denso is partnering with US LiDAR and perception systems company Aeva to develop “next-generation” sensing and perception systems.

Together, the companies will advance Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) LiDAR, which they describe as “a groundbreaking solution” that measures velocity, in addition to depth and reflectivity, and bring it to the mass vehicle market.

South Korea looks to strengthen position in global autonomous vehicles market with billion-dollar investment

South Korea is looking to strengthen its position in the global autonomous vehicles market with an investment of 1.1 trillion South Korean won, which equates to about $1 billion.

The investment calls for the development of “level 4” autonomous cars, according to the Ministry of Science and ICT, according to a report on the Korean Times website.

Cheetah Mobile launches ‘smart vending robot’

Cheetah Mobile has launched its intelligent vending robot, FanBot, to international markets.

In contrast to traditional vending machines, the FanBot can autonomously identify and approach potential customers in complex and high-traffic environments, such as shopping malls, retail stores, gyms, cinemas, libraries, hotel lobbies and airport terminals.

LG unveils autonomous robot with disinfecting ultraviolet light

LG has unveiled an autonomous robot with disinfecting ultraviolet light. The company says the newest addition to its CLOi range of robots are aimed at hotels, schools, offices, restaurants and retailers.

LG says it has combined its core competencies in robotics, artificial intelligence and autonomous vehicles with a “deep understanding of customer needs”.

Indian hospital launches ‘world’s first’ fully active robotic knee replacement system
