N10nm pattern generation using thermal scanning probe lithography enabled by simplified materials and processes, says SwissLitho

Thermal scanning probe lithography (tSPL) has been used to create patterns with sub-20 nm half-pitch resolution.

Pattern generation uses a thermally sensitive resist and spin coatable hard mask materials to transfer the resist patterns.

Spin coatable materials permit users of tSPL to reduce time and cost of the patterning process.  [Read more…] about SwissLitho develops more simple technique for nano-lithography

By Michael Ford, Aegis Software

Industry 4.0 describes both a business model and technology process for factories, to both require and enable them to become super-efficient whilst also being super-flexible.

Traditional approaches to automation in machinery and robotics continue to be successful, but, are mainly focused on specific production operations, leaving critical operational level decision-making on the “to do” list.

Well, if we don’t get to it soon, someone else will do it for us, and it may not be a human.  [Read more…] about Opinion: Putting artificial intelligence to work in industrial operations

Downsizing: It’s a small world

March 11, 2018 by David Edwards

downsizing image 1

Downsizing starts with a scientific discovery that enables the miniaturisation of normal-sized human beings to a fraction of their original size – to about 5 inches tall.

Why would anyone want to downsize in this way? Well, downsizing in the real world usually means moving to a smaller place to live and reducing your costs.

And this is what Downsizing is about, except it includes downsizing of the physical human form, which saves even more money because you could then live in a toy house and pay a tiny fraction of the costs of living as “big people”.  [Read more…] about Downsizing: It’s a small world

driverless car concept

By Kate Riley, TechRogers.com

Though many of us might have heard about self-driving cars, the idea has mostly been restricted to daydreams and books and some movies.

However, all this is supposed to break into reality within the next few years, possibly months.

The entire world is waiting with bated breath as Google and others to put the finishing touches on their much talked about self-driving cars.

It certainly is a technological marvel and there are quite a few interesting technologies involved.

For example, self-driving cars have some of the best GPRS and navigation systems. This helps a lot in navigating the vehicles through tough and difficult terrain without running the risk of accidents and other mishaps.

They also come with some of the most advanced anti-collision devices which ensures that even when moving through heavy traffic, the vehicles would be in a position to come to a grinding halt or give way to other vehicles if it is travelling at a specified speed.

More of the technologies are listed below in the infographic.

Emerson says its ASCO Numatics 580 CHARMs node enables simple Electronic Marshalling of pneumatic systems.

Pneumatic systems are an essential part of many process plants, in industries such as chemical, life science and food & beverage, particularly those where ancillary machines are used.

Although an essential part of the process, these machines are often stand-alone and are not connected back to the process control architecture.  [Read more…] about What difference could the seamless integration of pneumatic systems and process control mean to you?
