Want to know more about robotic welding? Here’s a brief introduction

October 29, 2019 by Editor

Robot welding involves robots (mechanized programmable tools) that completely automate this process. Mechanized tools perform welding and handle the parts.

It is a new application of robotics, and companies are frequently converting to it.

Remember, robots can successfully do any type of welding; therefore, you can expect improved quality, higher productivity, and cost-effective welding operations. [Read more…] about Want to know more about robotic welding? Here’s a brief introduction

Universal Robots powers three new welding tools at FabTech

October 25, 2019 by Sam Francis

The welding automation industry is increasingly implementing collaborative robot arms from Universal Robots.

This year’s FabTech Expo features several UR cobot powered path-processing solutions:

  • BotX Welder by Hirebotics;
  • Red-D-Arc and Airgas;
  • Vectis Automation’s Cobot Welding Tool; and
  • SnapCut by ARC Specialties.

The average age of today’s welder in the US is 55 years old, and fewer than 20 percent are under the age of 35, according to the American Welding Society. [Read more…] about Universal Robots powers three new welding tools at FabTech

Universal Robots powers Vectis Automation’s new collaborative robot welding tool

October 17, 2019 by Sam Francis

Vectis Automation has chosen Universal Robots’ UR10e cobot to power the Vectis Cobot Welding Tool launching at FabTech 2019 in Chicago.

The company says its robotic welding tool gives smaller weld shops a low-risk, low-cost solution to increase weld capacity, quality and stability.

Vectis is Latin for leverage. Leverage now extended to manufacturers seeking an easy answer to increase welding productivity amid the ongoing shortage of skilled labor. [Read more…] about Universal Robots powers Vectis Automation’s new collaborative robot welding tool

Hirebotics develops new robotic welding system

August 26, 2019 by David Edwards

Hirebotics has developed a new robotic welding system using Universal Robots machines.

The new for-hire BotX Welder – developed by Hirebotics and utilizing Universal Robots’ UR10e collaborative robot arm – lets manufacturers automate arc welding with no capital investment, handling even small batch runs not feasible for traditional automation.

Nowhere in manufacturing is the shortage of labor felt as urgently as in the welding sector, which is now facing an acute shortage of welders nationwide. [Read more…] about Hirebotics develops new robotic welding system

New lasers can weld ceramics without furnace, claim scientists

August 23, 2019 by Sam Francis

Smartphones that don’t scratch or shatter. Metal-free pacemakers. Electronics for space and other harsh environments.

These could all be made possible thanks to a new ceramic welding technology developed by a team of engineers at the University of California San Diego and the University of California Riverside.

The process, published in the August 23 issue of Science, uses an ultrafast pulsed laser to melt ceramic materials along the interface and fuse them together. [Read more…] about New lasers can weld ceramics without furnace, claim scientists

Kuka receives large order from Donghee for robotic welding systems

August 23, 2019 by Sam Francis

Industrial robot manufacturer Kuka says it has received an order in the “single-digit million euro range” from the Korean automotive supplier Donghee Industrial.

The order was booked in the second quarter of 2019.

Donghee relies on robot-based friction stir welding from Kuka in the area of electric mobility. [Read more…] about Kuka receives large order from Donghee for robotic welding systems

Collaborative robots working with human welders in manufacturing, says Novarc

August 21, 2019 by David Edwards

Collaborative robots are working with human welders in manufacturing, according to Canada-based robotics company Novarc Technologies, a company which has built a robot specifically for pipe welding.

Welding is one of the biggest applications for robots, particularly in the automotive industry.

According to the International Federation of Robotics, approximately half of all robotic arms sold in the US are bought by the automotive manufacturing sector, and around one-third of those robots are used for welding. Omron releases full metal proximity sensor for auto industry

July 3, 2019 by Anna

Omron Corporation has launched the E2EW Series of Full Metal Proximity Sensors, which have the world’s longest sensing distances, the company claims.

The automotive industry needs lighter automobiles, for electric vehicles and low fuel consumption, encouraging the material change in automotive components from iron to aluminium.

This will increase mixed production lines containing iron and aluminium. Full metal proximity sensors are mainly used in welding processes. However, previous full metal proximity sensors have short sensing distances.
