Can Adaptive Headlights Make Driving Safer?

December 18, 2024 by David Edwards

In February 2022, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) ruled that automobile makers could finally install adaptive driving beam headlight systems (ADB) on their new vehicles to make driving at night and in low visibility safer for motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians, domestic and wild animals, and others.

This change to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) occurred after federal agencies received complaints from manufacturers and consumers about the lack of modern vehicle lighting and safety technologies to match other countries that had adopted these standards decades ago. Read on to learn more about the impact of these headlights on road safety… [Read more…] about Can Adaptive Headlights Make Driving Safer?

Bike Lane Enforcement Cameras

December 8, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Automated bike enforcement laws are spreading across US cities like wildfire. New AI camera technology is now being used to help identify drivers who are breaking the laws.

Unfortunately, the number of drivers being caught blocking biking lanes is on the rise. City officials are hoping that drivers who break the laws will be identified and hit with fines.

Chicago, California, and New York are just a few of the municipalities that have recently passed bike enforcement legislation. [Read more…] about Bike Lane Enforcement Cameras

How to Make Classic Cars Safer?

November 7, 2023 by David Edwards

The truth of the matter is that we cannot compare our modern-day car with our old car. They are, in many ways, different. For instance, Older cars are made of steel, while modern cars are made of aluminum.

That’s not all; the designs are different; likewise, the interior and the exterior are totally not the same and can not meet up to the standard modern cars. Now, in terms of safety, we all know that that should be everyone’s priority, even before considering fancy features.

The good news is that modern-day cars are blessed more bountifully in that department than the older classic cars. We are not saying classic cars do not have any safety features; of course, they are just not as we now have in modern cars. [Read more…] about How to Make Classic Cars Safer?

Fugro and Petrobras pioneer remote subsea inspection in Brazil

March 18, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Fugro and Petrobras have achieved a major milestone in Brazil’s offshore energy sector by successfully completing the country’s first-ever remote subsea inspection survey.

This technology trial was carried out by Fugro in collaboration with Petrobras under an existing multiyear contract with the aim of minimising risk and improving sustainability during inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) projects.

Fugro utilised a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) deployed from the Fugro Aquarius to conduct the survey. Office-based personnel piloted the ROV from an operations centre in Aberdeen, Scotland, instead of from the vessel itself. Fugro provides uncrewed surface vessel to TAQA

January 30, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Fugro has completed its first fully remote offshore survey inspection in the European North Sea for energy company TAQA using one of its Blue Essence uncrewed surface vessels (USV) with Blue Volta electric remotely operated vehicle (eROV).

The complex project, in Europe’s busiest part of the North Sea, involved the inspection of two platforms and over 40 kilometres of pipeline off the coast of the Netherlands.

The inspection investigated the mobility of the seabed, pipeline depth measurements, visual inspections and cathodic protection measurements within the 500-metre zone to ensure the integrity of TAQA’s assets. [Read more…] about Fugro provides uncrewed surface vessel to TAQA

5 Benefits of Green Alternatives to Fossil Fuel Generators

May 2, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Having a backup power source for your home during power outages or long road trips is essential for keeping you safe and connected.

And while generators have long relied on gas and fuel, there’s no reason to keep using generators that rely on harmful toxic fossil fuels.

That’s especially true when you get more from one that uses greener alternative energy sources. [Read more…] about 5 Benefits of Green Alternatives to Fossil Fuel Generators
