A Complete Guide to DevOps-Based Infrastructure Automation + Practical Tips + Top 4 Providers

February 11, 2026 by Sam Francis

Feature comparisons dominate most infrastructure automation partner evaluations. Companies download comparison charts and score providers based on capabilities lists.

However, this approach to evaluating DevOps infrastructure automation services misses the actual problem. Your documented operational failures should drive the decision. A crashed deployment pipeline costs real money every hour it stays broken.

Understanding where your current infrastructure creates bottlenecks matters more than impressive capability lists. Maybe your team spends three days provisioning test environments when competitors spin them up in minutes. No brain? No problem. University of Southern California scientists show what robots can learn from sea stars

February 10, 2026 by Sam Francis

Ever feel run off your feet? Spare a thought for sea stars, creatures whose movement involves the coordination of hundreds of tiny tube feet to navigate complex environments – despite the lack of a central “brain”.

In other words, it’s as though each foot has a mind of its own. For Kanso Bioinspired Motion Lab, based within the University of Southern California Viterbi Department of Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering, sea stars pose an intriguing phenomenon.

Kanso Lab specializes in decoding the flow physics of living systems, often applying those insights to inform developments in robotics. [Read more…] about No brain? No problem. University of Southern California scientists show what robots can learn from sea stars

Engineering at the edge: Nidec powering the future of ship loading at Dalrymple Bay

February 10, 2026 by Sam Francis

When Nidec Drives Africa was approached to design a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Motor Control Centre (MCC) for the new “SL1A” Ship Loader at Dalrymple Bay Terminal in Mackay, Australia, the task was clear – but far from simple.

The goal was to modernise offshore operations nearly 4 kilometres out to sea, enhancing efficiency and embedding advanced redundancy into a system that had long relied on outdated technology. [Read more…] about Engineering at the edge: Nidec powering the future of ship loading at Dalrymple Bay

Interview with Reframe Systems CEO: ‘We’re developing a robotics and vision platform to unlock automation’

February 10, 2026 by Sam Francis

As the construction sector grapples with stubborn labor shortages, rising costs, and mounting pressure to deliver housing at scale, a new class of automation companies is emerging that promises to reshape how homes are built.

One of the most intriguing among them is Reframe Systems, a technology company that blends industrial robotics, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing to automate large chunks of the construction process that have long resisted mechanization.

Founded on the conviction that real-world productivity gains require more than isolated bricklaying robots or simple material movers, Reframe describes its approach as “physical AI” for construction – applying robotics and automation within controlled factory environments to deliver repeatable, high-quality building components at scale.
