GSMA MWC26 Barcelona closes 20th anniversary edition

MWC26 Barcelona welcomed nearly 105,000 attendees for a week of AI, innovation and industry-defining debate as well as boundary-pushing new features Airport of the Future, New Frontiers and robots of all shapes and sizes

MWC26, the world’s largest and most influential connectivity event, this year celebrated 20 years in Barcelona, bringing together exhibitors, thought leaders, startups, and policymakers all under one roof.

Despite global travel disruptions, it welcomed nearly 105,000 attendees from around the world to Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via.

PlusAI unveils new autonomous trucking software with night driving and construction zone capabilities

PlusAI has released SuperDrive 6.0, the latest version of its autonomous driving software engineered for commercial-scale deployment. The new release introduces crucial capabilities for commercial freight operations including night driving and construction zone handling.

By boosting the speed of its AI model training by 10X, SuperDrive 6.0 also enables rapid feature deployment and validation. Dexterity says its new world model delivers ‘major leap forward’ for physical AI-powered truck loading

Dexterity, a developer of physical AI powered industrial robotics, has announced a “major leap forward” in its Physical AI stack, anchored by Foresight, a state-of-the-art world model and a 4D box packing agent.

These advancements help solve some of the most physically demanding and hardest-to-staff tasks, such as truck loading. Alongside the announcement, Dexterity is also launching the Foresight API Challenge with up to $50,000 in prizes for student teams.

Foresight is Dexterity’s physics-consistent world model, a real-time, transactable representation of the physical environment that enables robots to perceive, reason, and act. BMW to test humanoid robots in production in Germany for the first time

The BMW Group is preparing to test humanoid robots in its car production in Europe for the first time, as the company accelerates its push to integrate artificial intelligence directly into factory operations.

The pilot project will take place at the company’s Leipzig plant in Germany, where engineers will test how humanoid robots can work alongside existing manufacturing systems in series vehicle production. The robots will also be evaluated for use in battery assembly and component manufacturing.

The project is part of BMW’s broader effort to introduce what it describes as “Physical AI” – the combination of digital artificial intelligence with physical machines such as robots operating in real industrial environments. Cognibotics receives $1.7 million order for its robot calibration technology

Cognibotics has announced that a “leading global industrial robot manufacturer” has placed an order valued at approximately SEK 16 million ($1.7 million) for its CogniCal robot calibration technology.

The order expands the customer’s use of CogniCal in robot production, and reinforces the growing role of calibration in industrial robot manufacturing.

CogniCal’s high-accuracy robot performance compensates for geometric deviations, elastic effects, and payload influence. Cyngn installs its DriveMod tugger at WEG Electric Motor facility

WEG Electric Motor’s Bluffton, Indiana facility is now using Cyngn’s DriveMod Tugger autonomous robot to automate material transport between machining and warehouse areas.

The deployment will handle up to 60 pallets per day, freeing up skilled labor and forklifts to focus on higher-value production tasks.

Cyngn has announced a commercial contract to deploy its DriveMod Tugger at a WEG manufacturing facility in Bluffton, Indiana.
