Honor unveils humanoid robot alongside new AI devices at Mobile World Congress

Honor has unveiled its first humanoid robot as part of a broader push into artificial intelligence devices at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona.

The company, best known for its smartphones, used the event to present a range of AI-powered products, including a concept “Robot Phone,” a new foldable handset and several computing devices. But the appearance of a humanoid robot on stage signaled the company’s intention to move beyond traditional consumer electronics into embodied AI systems.

Gravis Robotics expands into US with autonomous construction equipment platform

Gravis Robotics, the physical AI platform for heavy industry, has announced its full commercial expansion into the US through its live, production-scale autonomy tech to CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 in Las Vegas.

Schaeffler partners with Leju Robotics to advance industrial humanoid robots

Industrial motion technology company Schaeffler has entered into a partnership with Leju Robotics, a Chinese company in the field of humanoid robotics.

This is the first cooperation with a Chinese company, joining existing partnerships with well-known manufacturers in Europe and the USA, and represents an important step for Schaeffler in expanding its presence in the global humanoid ecosystem.

The aim of the cooperation is to advance the use of humanoid robots in industrial applications such as intelligent factory inspection, equipment operation support, logistics, and human-robot collaboration. Deloitte expands partnership with Nvidia to develop physical AI solutions for industry

Deloitte has announced an expansion of its collaboration with Nvidia to develop new physical AI solutions aimed at accelerating the adoption of intelligent systems in real-world industrial environments.

The initiative focuses on technologies such as digital twins, computer vision, edge computing and robotics, combining Deloitte’s engineering and industry expertise with Nvidia’s AI and simulation platforms.

According to Deloitte, the solutions will be built using libraries from Nvidia Omniverse and are designed to help organizations simulate operations, analyze physical environments and deploy intelligent machines in production. PwC predicts ‘moon economy’ will be worth around $127 billion by 2050

As NASA revises Artemis and PwC outlines $127 billion revenue by 2050 for the ‘moon economy’, experts warn that alternative energy infrastructure, not just transportation, will determine whether lunar surface activities will survive long-term 

NASA has recently announced major changes to its Moon landing program, Artemis. While crewed missions to the lunar surface were planned for 2028, the administration decided to add a preparatory step to test commercial landers in Earth’s orbit a year earlier, in 2027.

This change is meant to reduce risks and represents a shift toward more incremental mission design following recent Artemis delays and safety concerns exposed in February. Despite that, experts claim that transportation issues are just one part of the equation.

The latest PwC Lunar Market Assessment also highlights the growing economic importance of the Moon economy, projecting total revenues of $127.3 billion by 2050, and identifies solar energy systems as one of the priority technologies. KDDI and Avita partner to develop humanoid robots for real-world service roles

KDDI and Avita have announced a strategic partnership aimed at developing humanoid robots powered by what the companies describe as “Physical AI”.

The collaboration, announced March 2, 2026, will focus on building humanoid systems designed for real-world service environments such as retail, healthcare, entertainment and cultural venues.

Under the partnership, Avita will contribute expertise in avatar creation, conversational AI and remote operation technologies, while KDDI will provide communications infrastructure and data systems to support real-time operation of the robots. Viewpoint: Why ‘always-on’ environments break most robotics deployments – and how to fix them

Most robotics deployments don’t run into trouble because a motor was undersized or because someone wrote bad control logic. In our experience, the problems usually show up after the system leaves validation and starts operating in an environment that behaves nothing like the one it was tested in.

In a lab, conditions are stable and closely observed. The air is relatively clean, operators are attentive and specifically trained, and throughput is controlled. If something drifts out of calibration, it is usually caught early because the entire purpose of the environment is observation and testing. Production environments are built around output, not observation.

Once a system moves into a 24/7 facility, particularly in a regulated setting, the priorities shift. The machine is expected to keep up with volume targets, staffing rotates, and environmental variables that were minor during testing become persistent realities. That shift changes how small technical issues evolve into more serious problems over time. Automation Expo in Thailand concludes with strong attendance

Co-organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) and GMTX, the 2026 edition of Automation Expo closed recently, achieving a record 50 per cent year-on-year increase in attendance.

The event was held at the Nongnooch International Convention and Exhibition Center (NICE) in Pattaya, within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), the country’s primary hub for advanced manufacturing and industrial investment. It brought together 11,723 visitors to explore the technological advancements needed to enhance the global competitiveness of Thai industry.

Simbe becomes first retail robotics company to achieve UL 3300 certification

Simbe, a provider of store inventory and intelligence robots, says it has become “the first retail technology company to achieve UL 3300 certification”.

The certificate is the “Standard for Service, Communication, Information, Education and Entertainment Robots”, from UL Solutions for Simbe’s Tally robot, its shelf-scanning autonomous mobile robot.

Techman Robot and Tesollo unveil adaptive robotic gripper solution for high-mix manufacturing

Techman Robot Korea, the South Korean subsidiary of global collaborative robot company Techman Robot headquartered in Taiwan, and Tesollo, a South Korean specialist in robotic grippers, will present an articulated, multi-jointed gripper-based automation solution optimized for high-mix, low-volume production environments at the 2026 Smart Factory & Automation Industry Exhibition (Automation World).

Following last year’s teleoperation demo combining a humanoid robot hand and a TM robot arm, the two companies have shifted this year’s exhibition concept to a process-oriented solution that can be directly deployed in industrial sites.

The core of this collaboration is to implement flexible automation required on real manufacturing lines by combining the industrial reliability of collaborative robots with the shape-adaptive grasping technology of articulated grippers.
