Texas Instruments interview: The hidden engineering challenges behind humanoid robots

April 22, 2026 by David Edwards

In the fast-moving world of humanoid robotics, much of the attention remains focused on high-profile prototypes and demonstration videos.

Yet behind the scenes, a quieter but equally critical layer of innovation is taking place – one rooted in semiconductors, sensing, control systems, and the underlying architectures that make physical machines viable at scale.

Texas Instruments is one of the companies operating at this foundational level. Established in 1930 and long associated with American industrial and technological development, TI has evolved from its early days in oil exploration electronics into a global supplier of analog and embedded processing chips. ABB completes purchase of Siemens Gamesa’s power electronics unit to boost renewable growth

December 2, 2025 by David Edwards

Acquisition strengthens ABB’s position in renewable power conversion

ABB has completed its acquisition of Gamesa Electric’s power electronics business in Spain from Siemens Gamesa, originally announced last year.

Financial terms were not disclosed. The business reported annual revenues of approximately €145 million for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2025.

The acquired portfolio includes power conversion products such as wind converters for doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG), industrial battery energy storage systems (BESS), and utility-scale solar inverters.
