Automatica event right back on track, say organisers

Organisers of Automatica, one of the world’s largest industrial robotics and automation trade shows, say the event is “right back on track” after a terrible pandemic which virtually destroyed the entire events sector.

In a press release, Automatica organisers say: “The indicators for automatica 2022, which will be held at the Munich exhibition grounds from June 21 to 24, are very positive. All industry leaders have already applied half a year before the event.”

Industrial robotics market set to grow more than 10 percent a year, says report

The global market for industrial robots is set to grow by more than 10 percent a year, according to a new study by Market Research Future.

MRF’s report, Industrial Robotics Market information by Type, by End-Users, by Application and Region – forecast to 2027, says the sector will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 10.32 percent by 2026.

Copia Automation raises $16.4 million to bring DevOps efficiencies to industrial automation

Industrial automation software developer Copia Automation has secured a Series A investment of $14.2 million led by Lux Capital, with follow-on investment from Construct Capital and participation from Ironspring Ventures.

This latest round builds on existing $2.2 million in seed funding led by Construct Capital with participation from Lux Capital and Liquid 2 Ventures. Bilal Zuberi, Partner at Lux Capital, will join Copia’s board alongside Dayna Grayson from Construct Capital.

Cleo Robotics launches doughnut-shaped drone for indoor industrial inspection

Cleo Robotics, which claims to be the first company to successfully develop a stable and highly maneuverable ducted bi-rotor drone, has launched its Dronut X1 for law-enforcement, industrial inspection, construction and defense markets.

Cleo’s patented thrust vectoring technology has, for the first time ever, made the hyper-efficient ducted fan design stable in flight. The Dronut’s completely enclosed propellers enable the X1 to safely bounce off objects and people and is a fraction of the size of similarly featured drones.

For industrial and commercial applications, the Dronut X1 now enables unmanned inspections of dangerous and confined spaces (tanks, pressure vessels, crawl spaces, and so on) where no drone or robot could previously go. Everyday Robots comes out of Google Moonshot Factory with robots that can learn variety of tasks

A startup company called Everyday Robots has unveiled a new robot that it says can perform a range of tasks including wiping tables and windows as well as arrange chairs.

Everyday Robots started out as a project at Alphabet’s Moonshot Factory – also known as X, formerly Google X – but has now started to strike out on its own, setting up its own website as well.

Writing on X’s blog, Hans Peter Brøndmo, chief robot officer, says: “We are now operating a fleet of more than 100 robot prototypes that are autonomously performing a range of useful tasks around our offices. The shape is varied, from straight to ergonomic. But they all have one thing in common: The wooden bodies are made exclusively from untreated red beech. Depending on the model, they also have two hanging holes at the end of the handle.

Ohio Transmission acquires AAP Automation

Ohio Transmission Corporation (OTC), an industrial equipment service provider and distributor headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, has acquired AAP Automation, a provider of machine automation and control solutions throughout the North and South West United States.

AAP Automation will operate under OTC’s industrial products group segment.
