Geofencing and its Role in Layered Counter Drone Solutions

January 4, 2024 by David Edwards

Imagine a future where drones only fly when invited and under boundaries drawn digitally across the sky. This is the new reality that airspace management is redefining thanks to geofencing, a technological marvel.

This article explores the many uses of geofencing as a component of a multi-layered counter drone solution, assisting organizations in preventing unwanted incursions and optimizing drone-powered services.

Are counter-drone solutions essential?

Drones could pose significant security issues, such as interfering with privacy rights or interrupting vital operations. This is the developing drone age reality, and to protect our skies and ground, we need effective counter-drone technologies. Data Annotation as the Key to Successful AI Implementation

May 3, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Today, AI is transforming every industry, from healthcare to finance, from transportation to retail.

While a successful AI strategy has the potential to revolutionize the way we live and work, it always depends on the quality of the data used to train the models.

And this is where we need data annotation. Annotating data serves the function of telling machine learning models specifically what we want them to perceive. [Read more…] about Data Annotation as the Key to Successful AI Implementation

Telexistence to install AI re-stocking robots in 300 convenience stores across Japan

August 10, 2022 by Mai Tao

Telexistence has started the mass production of its originally developed artificial intelligence robot, TX SCARA, to be installed in 300 FamilyMart stores, Japan’s top-tier convenience store chain in major metropolitan areas, starting later this month, validating its AI-based “robot-as-a-service” solution for grocery retailers.

TX SCARA was created to do the specific task of restocking refrigerated shelves with bottles and cans, a repetitive, tedious job generally performed by employees in often uncomfortable settings.

TX SCARA can be in operation 24/7, replenishing shelves at a pace of up to 1,000 bottles and cans per day, relying almost completely on its AI system – known as “GORDON” – to know when and where products need to be placed on the shelves. How robots and RPA will change the business of the future

May 17, 2022 by David Edwards

In the whole world, large companies are often credited with such qualities as immobility and bureaucracy, which seems quite logical: the larger the enterprise and the more complex its structure, the more difficult it is to make changes.

On the other hand, the larger the company, the more resources it has and the more expensive the inefficiency of even one process is, so the biggest players in the market need to be the innovators.

There are people who still do not believe in the introduction of robotics everywhere, but a few years ago no one could believe that soon all people would use social networks daily and spend money on promoting their pages. [Read more…] about How robots and RPA will change the business of the future

BMW partners with Seoul Robotics to launch ‘Level 5’ control tower

January 4, 2022 by Mai Tao

Seoul Robotics, a robotics perception company, has introduced what it describes as a “Level 5 Control Tower” (LV5 CTRL TWR), a mesh network of sensors and computers on infrastructure that guides vehicles autonomously rather than having to place any sensors on an individual vehicle.

This “revolutionary technology” – which is said to enable non-autonomous vehicles to be controlled autonomously – is in the final stages of testing with automaker BMW and preparing for implementation to automate last-mile fleet logistics at their manufacturing facility in Munich.

Beyond original equipment manufacturers, the system has the potential to transform operations for a wide range of business applications ranging from vehicle distribution centers to car rental companies and trucking logistics. DHL Supply Chain accelerates roll-out of autonomous forklifts with largest single implementation

December 14, 2021 by Mark Allinson

DHL Supply Chain has introduced its largest ever single implementation of autonomous forklifts to date, with 15 embedded in its warehouse operations at Tyrefort, United Kingdom.

The autonomous forklifts form part of DHL’s operation for a major customer in the automotive sector, taking over picking, put-away and replenishment of products and empty media in the warehouse. The vehicles reduce the number of manual pallet transfers without requiring significant changes in warehouse infrastructure.

The indoor robotics transporters work safely up to 11.5 metres high – believed to be a first in the logistics industry – easily reaching the highest warehousing racks to handle a range of pallets, stillages and waste cages. Baidu launches robotaxi test service in Shanghai with Apollo Go ride-hailing platform

September 24, 2021 by Mai Tao

Baidu has launched testing of its Apollo Go in Shanghai, marking the fifth city where passengers have the ability to trial the robotaxi mobile platform. Baidu is the only company to offer this service in the three first-tier cities of Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai.

The Shanghai operation will include 150 stations opened in phases throughout the city to provide users convenient access to residential areas, commercial areas, offices and public transportation. Passengers can use the service from 9.30 am to 11.00 pm every day of the week.

This launch comes on the heels of another milestone for Baidu Apollo – the expansion of Apollo Go to Tongzhou District in Beijing, where the service will enable residents and visitors of the suburb to experience travel in an autonomous vehicle. Universal Robots develops interface for Siemens engineering portal

March 30, 2021 by David Edwards

Universal Robots, the world’s largest collaborative robots manufacturer, has developed an interface for the engineering portal of Siemens, one of the world’s largest industrial technology companies.

The companies say that integrating Universal Robots’ collaborative robots into complex machines and manufacturing environments will soon be a process machine builders and systems integrators can “seamlessly handle” through the Siemens Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) portal.

The UR collaborative robots will become part of the Simatic Robot Library within Siemens’ TIA environment through an interpreter interface planned to be completed within the fourth quarter of 2021. [Read more…] about Universal Robots develops interface for Siemens engineering portal

Organic wholesaler ‘doubles output’ with AutoStore and Swisslog warehouse automation

March 10, 2021 by David Edwards

A top wholesaler in the Swiss organic market, Bio Partner, has “doubled its output” following the implementation of innovative robotic logistics from Swisslog at its facility in Aargau, Switzerland, according to the company.

Bio Partner supplies business customers in the organic specialist trade as well as the rest of the retail and food industry from its location in Seon, in Switzerland.

As a result of the merger with Somona, the warehouse reached its performance and capacity limits, and the wholesaler turned to a local partner with a global footprint to deliver an automated storage system.
