How AI is powering the next generation of robots – insights from a leading global conference

April 16, 2026 by David Edwards

The 2026 Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference (CVPR), which annually unveils the latest research in support of artificial intelligence (AI), embodied AI and robotics, multi-modal AI, wearable AI, spatial computing, AI agents, and much more, will serve as one of the foremost forums to showcase how advances in AI are accelerating next-gen robotics from concept to real-world deployment.

Co-sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society (CS) and the Computer Vision Foundation (CVF), CVPR, an annual launchpad for breakthroughs in AI, and this year for robotics, will convene the leading research, companies, and applications redefining what robots can see, understand, and do.

Through its program, CVPR 2026, which takes place 3-7 June at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado, USA, will reveal how AI is fueling rapid innovation in robotics, automation, and embodied intelligence. Siemens, Nvidia and Humanoid partner to bring physical AI into factory operations

April 16, 2026 by David Edwards

Siemens and Humanoid has announced what it says is “a landmark milestone” in the journey to bring physical AI from vision to industrial reality.

Humanoid’s HMND 01 wheeled Alpha humanoid robot, built using the Nvidia physical AI stack, has been successfully tested in operations at Siemens’ electronics factory in Erlangen, Germany, performing autonomous logistics tasks. (See video below.)

This builds on the Siemens and Nvidia strategic partnership, announced at CES, to build the world’s first fully AI-driven, adaptive manufacturing sites. [Read more…] about Siemens, Nvidia and Humanoid partner to bring physical AI into factory operations

Interview with Volvo Autonomous Solutions: Driverless trucks are upon us

April 15, 2026 by David Edwards

As the global logistics industry grapples with persistent driver shortages, rising operating costs, and increasing pressure to improve efficiency, autonomous trucking is beginning to move beyond promise and into early-stage commercial reality.

For much of the past decade, the technology has been described as “almost ready” – a phrase that has invited both optimism and skepticism.

Today, that characterization is starting to shift. Autonomous trucks are now hauling real freight on public roads, albeit within limited routes and often still under human supervision, marking a transitional phase between pilot programs and true large-scale deployment. How Innovation is Unlocking Hidden Value in Traditional Financial Assets

April 15, 2026 by David Edwards

Hidden value is sitting inside assets that many investors already own. New technology and smarter financial structures are transforming policies, loans, and retirement products into flexible tools that can generate liquidity, income, and growth.

Markets that once felt rigid are becoming more adaptable. Innovation is unlocking opportunities inside traditional holdings without forcing investors to start from scratch. [Read more…] about How Innovation is Unlocking Hidden Value in Traditional Financial Assets

How Precision Machining is Powering the Future of Innovation

April 14, 2026 by Sam Francis

If you’ve ever wondered what actually goes into building an aircraft engine part or a robotic joint that works perfectly every single time, the answer almost always comes back to precision machining.

It’s not the flashiest topic in manufacturing, but it’s quietly responsible for why so many modern technologies can exist at all. CNC machining has evolved dramatically over the past decade, and shops like XTJ CNC in Carmel, Indiana are a good example of where things stand today.

This piece covers what precision machining looks like now, how it connects to robotics and automation, and what’s coming next. [Read more…] about How Precision Machining is Powering the Future of Innovation

A Practical Guide to Fiber Optic Equipment and its Uses

April 13, 2026 by Sam Francis

Fiber optic networks are the foundation of modern connectivity. They carry everything from streaming video and cloud data to critical communications for hospitals and emergency services.

But building, maintaining, and troubleshooting these networks requires a carefully assembled toolkit of specialized instruments and devices, each designed to handle a specific stage of the installation or maintenance process. Understanding what each piece of equipment does and when to use it is essential for anyone working in or around fiber infrastructure.

The range of fiber optic equipment available today covers every phase of a network’s lifecycle, with each tool serving a distinct purpose. Technicians working on telecommunications buildouts, data center interconnects, or industrial sensing systems rely on these tools daily. How to Run LLM Evaluation for Better AI Performance

April 10, 2026 by Sam Francis

Production AI systems embedded in automated workflows, robotics-assisted operations, customer support systems, and compliance environments carry measurable behavioral risk that increases proportionally with deployment scope and model autonomy.

In such settings, the behavior of the large language model must conform to defined operational, policy, and compliance standards.

Deploying a model without structured evaluation introduces quantifiable risk, particularly in decision-support, documentation, and customer communication workflows where output errors carry downstream liability. [Read more…] about How to Run LLM Evaluation for Better AI Performance
