Caglia Environmental launches new recycling robot from EverestLabs

Caglia Environmental, a recycling company based in Fresno, California, has unveiled what it describes as “a significant advancement in recycling technology” at the Cedar Avenue Recycling & Transfer Station.

This “leap forward” is made possible by funding from The Recycling Partnership’s PET Recycling Coalition. Caglia Environmental was one of 12 businesses and organizations in North America to receive a PET Recycling Coalition grant.

The grant has enabled the installation of cutting-edge RecycleOS-powered robotic sorters developed by EverestLabs. The RecycleOS software is designed to identify #1 PET – which is Polyethylene Terephthalate – plastic into three specialized streams then each robot efficiently sorts the materials into three different bunkers. Stäubli invests in company developing robot for solar industry

Stäubli, one of the world’s largest industrial robot suppliers, says it has become involved in innovative Computer Vision, AI, and robotics solutions development with the California-based OnSight Technology.

Active since the early beginning of the Photovoltaic industry, Stäubli is a pioneer for durable and robust PV DC connectors. The Original MC4 PV connector has set the industry benchmark and is currently the most installed worldwide, connecting more than 50 percent of the global PV capacity.

Kuka demonstrates mobile robots for harvesting apples

Kuka and the Upper Bavarian startup company Digital Workbench Gmbh have launched a co-operation with the aim of developing a product for the agricultural sector: a mobile harvesting robot to support fruit farmers during the apple harvest.

Josef Schmidt, founder and managing director of Digital Workbench, says: “Both companies are contributing one of their most innovative new developments for automation in fruit growing to this cooperation.

Kuka says its augmented reality ‘makes new robots easier to start up’

Kuka says its new Kuka.MixedReality software visualizes the environment of robot cells live on smartphones to “support fast, safe and intuitive robot start-up”.

The mobile app displays tools and interference geometries to enable early detection of potential hazards so users can eliminate them before a robot starts work.

Alstef automates Bank of France’s new banknote printing facility

The Banque de France, or Bank of France, has launched a large-scale project to build a new plant in Vic-Le-Comte, France, which already houses a paper mill, creating a global banknote production hub at the cutting edge of technological innovation.

The new, highly secure building will house both printing and logistics activities. Process automation was entrusted to Alstef Group, who will supply a logistics system including a high-bay warehouse served by four stacker cranes within an automated “greenhouse”.

Flow management will be handled by a fleet of automated guided vehicles and/or autonomous mobile robots comprising 10 of Alstef’s “Turtle” AGV-AMRs Loadstar machines equipped with roller conveyors, as well as 10 GL 10.1 AGVs. DB Schenker opens new Czech logistics center with 100 mobile robots

DB Schenker says its new contract logistics warehouse in Rudna, Czech Republic is “driving efficiency, quality, and speed in the supply chain”.

With the new site, the logistics provider combines customized logistics solutions with automation and robotization to transform operations within the warehouse.

Android maker 1X raises $100 million in Series B investment round

1X, an AI and robotics company producing androids to “meet the world’s labor demand”, has raised $100 million in Series B funding with participation from EQT Ventures and other notable global investors.

The company intends to utilize the new capital to bring to market its second generation android NEO. Designed as a bipedal humanoid, NEO is tailored for everyday home assistance, offering versatile support for a wide range of domestic tasks in the consumer market.

The funds will also support 1X’s existing enterprise clients in logistics and guarding. Contextant agrees warehouse automation partnership with SVT Robotics
