Singapore mega-port implements Stäubli robot charging solution
PSA Singapore’s new mega-port will have fully automated key operations with AGVs that are automatically charged during the operation process with Stäubli’s QCC high-power charging solution.
In the course of maintenance, the battery systems are exchanged automatically with Stäubli’s Multi Connect System, or MCS.
PSA Singapore is ranked the world’s largest container transshipment hub. To anticipate the future growth in global trade, PSA is constructing the new mega port at Tuas. This future port will feature totally automated terminal operations. [Read more…] about Singapore mega-port implements Stäubli robot charging solution
Automation strategies: Impactful manufacturing insights for a changing industry
Over the past decade industrial manufacturers have been pressed to make smaller and smaller products, in higher volumes, with greater flexibility, all at a reduced cost.
Automation has been a central enabler of this trend, helping the industry to achieve production goals and meet business objectives.
Over the past year the COVID-19 pandemic has not only accelerated these trends, but also exposed new market forces that are dramatically impacting the manufacturing industry as we know it. [Read more…] about Automation strategies: Impactful manufacturing insights for a changing industry
Unity partners with Mando to develop advanced driver assistance system
Unity, one of the best-known platforms for creating games, is partnering up with South Korean self-driving technology company Mando to develop front camera simulation technology for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Unity has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mando to develop an ADAS front camera simulator. This MoU will combine Mando’s expertise in technology with Unity for a joint effort to develop an ADAS front camera simulator.
This is South Korea’s first collaboration case between an automotive parts company and a game engine developer. [Read more…] about Unity partners with Mando to develop advanced driver assistance system
RTI releases ‘first’ software framework for widely distributed autonomous systems
Real-Time Innovations, a software framework company for autonomous systems, has released the latest version of its software framework, RTI Connext.
RTI says Connext 6.1 is “the first software framework designed to address the development and deployment challenges faced by companies building remotely-operated autonomous systems”.
Autonomous systems must operate in inaccessible, remote, or hazardous environments. [Read more…] about RTI releases ‘first’ software framework for widely distributed autonomous systems
Ekso Bionics provides exoskeletons to hospitals in Florida
Ekso Bionics, a developer of exoskeleton technology for medical and industrial use, has expanded partnership with Kindred Healthcare, bringing EksoNR, the most clinically used robotic exoskeleton, to four of Kindred’s Long-Term Acute Care Hospitals in the US.
The multi-unit order follows a successful pilot program of the EksoNR last year.
EksoNR has become a standard of care within Kindred’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospitals by driving patient outcomes in neurorehabilitation through early mobility and gait training.
In 2019, Kindred executed a proof of concept in the Houston LTAC market and, after a successful implementation, launched three additional Ekso programs in the Houston-metro area in 2020. [Read more…] about Ekso Bionics provides exoskeletons to hospitals in Florida

Hexagon launches ‘world’s first’ wireless laser scanner
Hexagon’s manufacturing intelligence division has launched what it claims is “the world’s first wireless laser scanner” designed specifically to work inside computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines.
The cutting-edge scanner allows for data to be efficiently, accurately and securely transmitted wirelessly, which improves production quality.
Hexagon’s new integrated wireless laser scanner, the m&h LS-R-4.8, does not require traditional touch probes and captures around 40,000 measurement points a second to provide information about the complete part, compared to the status quo of taking individual points with traditional touch probes.
