Map produced by Brookings pinpoints location of all robots in the US

The Brookings Institution has found that Michigan has the highest number of robots of all the states in the US. 

Brookings found that Detroit, traditionally the motor town of the US, has more than 15,000 industrial robots installed.

Kuka celebrates production of 2 million Jeep Wranglers

Kuka is apparently rather pleased with itself for having helped produce 2 million Jeep Wranglers. 

A few days ago, the Kuka Toledo Production Operations celebrated the completion of its two millionth Jeep Wrangler body-in-white.

Dürr and BMW win award for smart painting technique

Robotics and automation technology company Dürr and automaker BMW have won an award for developing a new robotic painting system.

The companies received the award for technique for their concept of a “smart paint shop” at the Surcar 2017 event in Cannes, France.

Kuka wins prestigious Red Dot design award for industrial robot

Kuka has won a prestigious design aware from the Red Dot organisation, which runs a competition which analyses products from an extensive range of industries.

The award that Kuka won was in the Red Dot industrial product design category, and it was for its industrial robot, the KR CyberTech (pictured).

Yaskawa Motoman adds new model to high-speed GP industrial robot series

Yaskawa Motoman has added a new robot model to its GP series of industrial robots.

Yaskawa says the “efficient, high-speed” Motoman GP25 robot is a new, compact robot that is ideal for assembly, dispensing, handling, material removal and packaging applications.

TAL unveils welding solution involving its Brabo industrial robot

Indian company TAL Manufacturing Solutions is showcasing a new welding solution which features its own industrial robot, the Brabo. 

The company, which is part of the Tata Motors group, is exhibiting the robotic welding solution at the Automation Expo, currently taking place in Mumbai, India.

According to the Economic Times of India, the TAL Brabo robotic welding cell is priced at about $133,000 and is a “cost-effective” solution aimed at Tier 3 and 4 suppliers. Kawasaki gloating over appearance of its robots in latest Transformers film

Kawasaki is clearly very pleased with the appearance of not one but two of its industrial robots in the new Hollywood blockbuster film, Transformers 5: The Last Knight. 

The company has been crowing about its fame on its website.

Comau signs up new robotics and automation partners in Greece and Argentina

Comau has signed deals with two new partner companies in Greece and Argentina. 

In Greece, Comau has appointed the Nimac Group as its robotics distributor.

Nimac (pictured above) is located in Thessalonikki, and started the production of horizontal panel saws in 1977. It is now said to be one of the top manufacturers in the beam saws sector.

Software developer and integrator Universal Logic receives order for 60 Yaskawa Neocortex AI robotic work cells

An industrial technology integrator called Universal Logic says it has receieved a large order for 60 of its specially designed robotic work cells. 

The company has developed a software-intense work cell which it calls Neocortex, aimed at supply chains and logistics operations which require automated material handling systems for high-mix, high volume applications.

Toshiba launches three new industrial robots aimed at automated picking applications

Toshiba Machine has launched three new industrial robots.

The three new models are part of the company’s TVM series of vertically articulated robots, and all have “high cost performance and reliability”, says Toshiba.
