Walmart now piloting on-demand drone delivery with Flytrex

September 10, 2020 by Liv

Years ago, our founder Sam Walton famously said, “I have always been driven to buck the system, to innovate, to take things beyond where they’ve been.”

It remains a guiding principle at Walmart to this day – from being an early pioneer of universal bar codes and electronic scanning cash registers to our work on autonomous vehicle delivery, we’re working to understand how these technologies can impact the future of our business and help us better serve our customers.

Our latest initiative has us exploring how drones can deliver items in a way that’s convenient, safe, and you guessed it – fast. [Read more…] about Walmart now piloting on-demand drone delivery with Flytrex

Walmart deal helps Shopify shares skyrocket more than 300 percent

September 3, 2020 by David Edwards

Shopify shares have skyrocketed to all-time highs over the past few weeks, largely as a result of its new partnership with Walmart. Shopify is the first online commerce platform partner that Walmart has signed such a deal with.

The agreement, agreed in June, allows Shopify – which bought warehouse robot maker 6 River Systems last year for $450 million – to put 1,200 of its merchants into Walmart’s marketplace

Walmart is America’s largest retail chain, with annual revenues of more than $500 billion. The vast majority of its sales are in brick-and-mortar stores, but the company has recently been making a big push into the digital space. Walmart considers buying TikTok in bid to tackle Amazon’s advertising dominance

September 2, 2020 by David Edwards

Walmart is considering buying TikTok, the Chinese-owned app and social media platform.

While it may not seem to make sense at first, the idea is part of Walmart’s restructuring as a more digital-oriented enterprise.

Walmart is by far the America’s largest retail chain, with more stores selling more stuff than anyone else – revenue for 2017 was more than $500 billion. The second largest, Costco, generated $130 billion in the same year, while Amazon’s were almost $120 billion. August 31, 2020 by David Edwards
