Swedish city Helsingborg receives $258,000 grant to test robotic garbage collection

July 8, 2023 by Mark Allinson

By 2027, the city of Helsingborg aims to become one of the world’s best cities to live and work in. Recently, the city received a grant from Sweden’s Innovation Agency, Vinnova, to test autonomous robots in garbage collection.

Traditionally, garbage collection has involved loud trucks blocking the streets and interrupting early mornings. In collaboration with Robot Minds AB and the regional waste management company Nordvästra Skånes Renhållnings AB (NSR), the City of Helsingborg aims to implement a project where service robots collect the garbage instead.

In mid-June, it was decided that the project would receive funding of SEK 2.8 million from Vinnova, Sweden’s innovation agency, through the strategic innovation program Drive Sweden. [Read more…] about Swedish city Helsingborg receives $258,000 grant to test robotic garbage collection

Accelerating Revenue Growth through A/B Testing for Paywalls

July 4, 2023 by David Edwards

The digital world is ever-evolving, and publishers are always on the lookout for ways to maximize revenue. Paywalls have become a sought-after solution, as they lock away premium content behind a payment barrier.

Yet, rushing into implementing paywalls without careful testing can result in missed chances and financial setbacks. This is where A/B testing enters the scene. You can learn more on the Adapty website.

By conducting A/B tests, publishers gain the freedom to experiment with various paywall setups and pricing models, allowing them to make informed choices rooted in data that will pave the way for greater revenue growth. Aerobotix and FerRobotics to showcase new robotic taping kit at Automate 2023

May 16, 2023 by David Edwards

Aerobotix and FerRobotics, two robotics companies based in the US and Austria respectively, will exhibit their new Active Taping Kit (ATK) tool at the Automate Show in Detroit, Michigan, from May 22-25. This will be the first public demonstration of the ATK in North America.

Aerobotix and FerRobotics partnered on the ATK in response to aerospace industry demand for an automated tool for precision application of masking tape. Collaboration between engineers from the two companies led to the development of a revolutionary End of Arm Tooling (EOAT) after months of prototypes and testing.

FerRobotics’ patented Active Compliant Technology (ACT) enables a robot to use varying force when applying tape to an aircraft. The ATK allows for smooth masking on parts varying in shape, putting down perfectly straight tape lines where the customer needs them.   [Read more…] about Aerobotix and FerRobotics to showcase new robotic taping kit at Automate 2023

SGS introduces ‘cutting-edge testing protocol’ for robots checking furniture drawer slides

March 29, 2023 by Mark Allinson

SGS, a testing, inspection and certification company, has launched a new advanced slide test protocol that uses “PROF” – short for “SGS Performance Factory” – to assess the performance and durability of furniture drawers.

The PROF furniture drawer slide test protocol accurately simulates real consumer use and misuse to measure and map the evolution of opening force, damping force and drawer face position when operating. It can also compare the impact of drawer use on the right and left sides and be used to contrast different brands and designs.

This protocol has several key advantages for consumers, manufacturers and brands. Its high-quality, trusted and impartial data supports performance and durability claims, enabling consumers to make better-informed purchasing decisions. It also empowers better commercial decisions concerning design improvements and product selection. AutoFlight achieves ‘world’s longest eVTOL flight’

March 7, 2023 by Mark Allinson

AutoFlight, the global eVTOL (electric Vertical Take Off and Landing) pioneer, says it has achieved “the world’s longest eVTOL flight in history” with distance of 250 km / 155 miles on a single charge of the aircraft’s lithium-ion batteries.

The flight, which took place at AutoFlight’s eVTOL testing facility on February 23th, consisted of 20 circuits on a predefined flight track, with the plane remotely piloted from the ground by AutoFlight’s Flight Test team.

Interestingly, while AutoFlight’s Gen4 aircraft is fitted with the latest in state-of-the-art avionics, the aircraft also ran third-party avionics to record and verify the distance flown on ForeFlight, an independent system widely used in the aviation sector.
