Rocsys hands-free charging platform to be installed at Rotterdam port

APM Terminals Maasvlakte II, one of the most advanced automated container terminals in the world, and Rocsys, a provider of hands-free charging solutions, have joined forces to deploy hands-free charging at Maasvlakte II in the Port of Rotterdam.

A critical component of the largest and most advanced container terminals will now be powered by Rocsys charging systems, enabling the seamless transportation of large volumes of goods distributed throughout the world.

Eurogate and partners unveil autonomous terminal tractor proof-of-concept at Wilhelmshaven terminal

A freight consortium in Europe has unveiled a proof-of-concept project that they say showcases “the next phase” of automated operations in port environments – its autonomous terminal tractor, or ATT.

The consortium consists of Eurogate, one of Europe’s largest container terminal and logistics companies, Embotech, a provider of autonomous driving solutions, Mafi, a manufacturer of terminal tractors, and ICT Group a leading European provider of industrial technology solutions.

DB Schenker implements Jungheinrich AGVs with Kollmorgen technology for terminal operations

DB Schenker – through its branch in Borås, Sweden – has taken the next step in efficiently moving goods with tight timeframes by automating internal transports and increased productivity alongside improved safety and reduced production damages.

The terminal has successfully implemented Jungheinrich Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) with Kollmorgen technology and is the first terminal within DB Schenker land to use automated forklifts in terminal operation.

Chinese researchers develop robotic hearing test system

The China Telecommunication Technology Labs (CTTL) Terminal labs at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) successfully conducted specific absorption rate and hearing aid compatibility testing for 5G new radio mobile devices.

The lab upgraded their DASY8 high-precision electromagnetic near-field scanning platform from SPEAG, the leading provider of dosimetric test systems, with the R&S CMX500 OBT 5G one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz.

Fernride and Terberg partner to take automated terminal tractors into series production

Fernride, which specializes in autonomous trucking, and Terberg, a maker of terminal tractors, have agreed a collaboration to develop an automated terminal tractor CE certified for commercial production.

This solution offers both teleoperated and autonomous driving capabilities to ensure a smooth and gradual transition to full autonomy with human-in-the-loop. The partnership started in 2021 and the series-production of these trucks will start in 2024, ready for gradual autonomy.

The first 100 trucks will be rolled out to Fernride and Terberg’s customers in container terminals, production plants, and distribution centers to lower logistics costs, boost efficiency, and guarantee safety. Abrantix launches new robot to test payment terminals

Imagine being able to test multiple physical payment terminals at the same time, using a purpose-built robot of industrial quality. With Abrantix’s new Robot T4 this becomes a reality.

The Swiss payment technology expert says its latest addition to its product portfolio can check up to four terminals simultaneously.

Embark and US Xpress partner to build nationwide terminal network for autonomous trucks

Embark Trucks, a developer of autonomous technology for the trucking industry, says US Xpress has joined the Embark Partner Development Program and plans to add its terminals to the Embark Coverage Map.

This partnership marks a significant milestone by adding a fleet’s properties into an autonomous truck developer’s transfer point network.

Embark pioneered the transfer point model in 2019 when the company unveiled its first sites in Los Angeles and Phoenix. Transfer points are used to move freight from driverless, long-haul trucks to driver-enabled trucks for first- and last-mile delivery. Airbus and Xenesis to demo 10 Gbps networking on ISS for robotics and other applications

Airbus and Xenesis have signed a contract for a payload slot on the International Space Station Bartolomeo platform for the demonstration of their Xen-Hub optical communication space terminal.

The Xen-Hub is a greater than 10 gigabyte per second optical communications terminal. The terminal was enabled with a technology transfer from the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and is designed to increase satellite communications bandwidth.

Omron launches 237 new factory automation control devices

Omron has launched the sixth wave of its factory automation control devices built on a common design platform for further innovation in control panel building.

The new products include 237 models in six categories low voltage switch gear: J7KC, J7TC, J7MC, J7KCA and J7KCR series low voltage switching gears (LVSG), S8V-CP series DC electronic circuit protectors, and PTF-XX-PU socket for LY relays with Push-In Plus technology.
