Raspberry Pi receives strategic investment from Sony

Sony Semiconductor Solutions and Raspberry Pi have reached an agreement by which SSS is to make a strategic investment in RPL.

The minority investment cements the relationship between the two companies, to provide a development platform for SSS’s edge AI devices to the worldwide community of Raspberry Pi users.

Addverb and Element Logic agree strategic partnership for synergies in warehouse automation

Addverb and ABCO partner to offer ‘advanced’ warehouse automation solutions

Addverb, an autonomous mobile robots maker, has agreed a strategic partnership with ABCO Systems, a distribution solutions provider that specializes in streamlining warehousing operations.

This strategic alliance combines Addverb’s automation technology with ABCO’s storage and material handling equipment systems to offer solutions for warehouse and fulfillment operations in consumer goods industries, including e-commerce, grocery, fashion, and lifestyle.

Autonomous vehicle development will be stalled by technological and regulatory barriers, says report

Autonomous vehicles are currently more hype than substance, given the significant technological, financial, and regulatory barriers to their widespread use, according to GlobalData.

In its latest report, Tech, Media, & Telecom Predictions 2022, the data and analytics company predicts that focus will shift onto “lower-level” autonomous vehicles that require greater human supervision, while mergers and acquisition activity will continue to be driven by transport technology such as robotaxis.

Intel Mobileye and Geely Zeekr to build autonomous car for consumer market

Mobileye, an Intel subsidiary which develops advanced driver assistance systems, and Zeekr, the premium electric car brand owned by China’s largest automaker Geely, are to develop a new all-electric consumer vehicle with Level 4 capabilities.

The plan represents an expansion of their existing strategic technology partnership.

The planned autonomous vehicle will be powered by six EyeQ 5 system-on-chips to process Mobileye True Redundancy sensing, Responsibility-Sensitive Safety (RSS)-based driving policy and a new open collaboration model on Road Experience Management (REM) mapping technology. NXP and Foxconn agree strategic partnership to accelerate automotive innovation

NXP, a semiconductor company with a strong presence in the automotive market, has agreed a strategic partnership with Foxconn Industrial Internet, a subsidy company of the Foxconn group, to “transform the car into the ultimate edge device”.

Automated cow-milking company Lely and AI company Connecterra enter strategic partnership

Dutch-based startup Connecterra, which used artificial intelligence to deliver insights to farmers, and Lely, a supplier of robotics and management systems for dairy farming, have agreed a “robust co-development and commercial partnership”.

The strategic partnership follows a pilot with Lely’s Digital Farming Group. The pilot program was designed to test an integration between Lely Horizon and Connecterra’s artificial intelligence platform, Ida.

The successful effort has resulted in commitments to several strategic initiatives. As a first step in the agreement, Lely will now license Ida Enterprise for use in their farm management system Lely Horizon. Delivery robot startup Serve Robotics raises $13 million in seed funding round

Serve Robotics, an autonomous sidewalk delivery robot company, has closed a $13 million expanded seed funding round.

The companies participating were strategic investors Uber Technologies; Delivery Hero backed DX Ventures; 7-Eleven’s corporate venture arm, 7-Ventures; and Wavemaker Partners’ food automation focused venture studio Wavemaker Labs.

Ranpak makes ‘strategic investment’ in Pickle Robot Company

Ranpak, a provider of paper-based packaging solutions for e-commerce and industrial supply chains, has made a “strategic investment” in Pickle Robot Company, a developer of robotic systems for automated sorting, loading and unloading of packaged goods within logistical lines.

Pickle Robot has developed a low cost, collaborative package-handling robot that automates several key tasks along the e-commerce supply chain.
