3 Capabilities of an Electronic Manufacturing Services Company

August 31, 2022 by Mark Allinson

The process of manufacturing in-demand gadgets like phones and TVs follows several phases. In effect, the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) has to research and develop a design that meets current consumer needs.

Because of these current demands, most manufacturers build their products in-house or outsource related tasks. The latter has become a standard option for most OEMs as they focus on researching possible product improvements.

The subcontractors who handle these tasks do so in what’s referred to as electronic manufacturing services (EMS). Specialized engineering experts like Nortech Systems help OEMs attain their project goals.

The cost will depend on the complexity of the tasks and the current stage of product development. [Read more…] about 3 Capabilities of an Electronic Manufacturing Services Company

Baidu granted China’s ‘first-ever’ permits for commercial driverless ride-hailing services

August 9, 2022 by Mai Tao

Baidu, China’s equivalent of Google, has secured the first permits in China to offer commercial fully driverless robotaxi services to the public on open roads.

Apollo Go, Baidu’s autonomous ride-hailing service, is now authorized to collect fares for robotaxi rides – completely without human drivers in the car – in Chongqing and Wuhan, two of China’s largest megacities.

Amid increasing regulatory approval of the expansion of autonomous vehicles (AVs), the permits reflect regulatory authorities’ strong recognition and trust in the strength of Baidu’s autonomous driving technology. Udelv autonomous vehicle provides services for nonprofit organizations

August 4, 2022 by David Edwards

Udelv, a maker of autonomous delivery vehicles, has teamed up with Toyota Mobility Foundation and Energy Systems Network to provide services to two non-profit organizations in central Indiana under TMF’s Together in Motion initiative.

The delivery vehicle – which was launched in Indianapolis on November 5th, 2021 – and has enabled HATCH for Hunger and Southeast Community Services to provide essential goods to community members and food pantry partners.

The rising necessity of contactless delivery throughout the coronavirus pandemic led TMF to explore implementation of advanced goods delivery methodologies. The service will end at the beginning of May 2022. [Read more…] about Udelv autonomous vehicle provides services for nonprofit organizations

Ericsson, TIM and Comau test the ‘factory of the future’

June 17, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Ericsson, TIM and Comau say they are testing the “factory of the future” through something called “5G network slicing”.

The three companies have joined forces to develop, on an experimental basis, innovative solutions for Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing by leveraging the potential of the 5G network. This initiative is part of the EU-funded 5Growth project.

Thanks to TIM and Ericsson’s deployment of a 5G network at Comau’s headquarters in Turin (Italy), three new applications have been launched to demonstrate the advantages of the new technology, and in particular those arising from the slicing functionality of the network, within an industrial environment. How robots and RPA will change the business of the future

May 17, 2022 by David Edwards

In the whole world, large companies are often credited with such qualities as immobility and bureaucracy, which seems quite logical: the larger the enterprise and the more complex its structure, the more difficult it is to make changes.

On the other hand, the larger the company, the more resources it has and the more expensive the inefficiency of even one process is, so the biggest players in the market need to be the innovators.

There are people who still do not believe in the introduction of robotics everywhere, but a few years ago no one could believe that soon all people would use social networks daily and spend money on promoting their pages. [Read more…] about How robots and RPA will change the business of the future
