Commercial vehicle maker MAN selects Magazino robot for warehouse work

May 23, 2022 by David Edwards

The robotics company Magazino wins commercial vehicle maker MAN as a customer for a pilot project with the SOTO robot.

The mobile robot SOTO automates the material supply between the warehouse and the assembly line, by handling and transporting small load carriers (KLT) completely autonomously.

The pilot operation started at the Nuremberg site in the engine production for trucks and offers both sides the opportunity to gain experience with the robot for a future live operation. [Read more…] about Commercial vehicle maker MAN selects Magazino robot for warehouse work

Clever claims ‘first’ autonomous unmanned vehicle delivery in Europe

May 13, 2022 by David Edwards

Cleveron Mobility, a company developing the technology for driverless autonomous vehicles, and the parcel delivery company DPD Eesti, claim to have become the first in Europe to deliver a package to a customer with a driverless autonomous vehicle.

Cleveron says that, thanks to its flexible cargo capacity and the capability of driving on public roads, it’s able to offer a “good alternative to fossil fuel vans”.

The driverless autonomous vehicle, manufactured by Cleveron Mobility, is developed as a robotic courier with the aim to deliver goods and equipment in a more efficient, flexible and environmentally friendly way for both people and businesses. What Are the Benefits of Collaborative Robot Screwdriving?

April 29, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Many people think that robotic screwdriving isn’t a good idea because automated screw driving seems like a difficult, costly, and expensive thing to manage and achieve.

They think that these automated screw driving machines are huge machines that can manage only a small set of operations and are suitable only for high-volume manufacturing businesses and not for small to medium-sized businesses, however, that is not the case.

Robotics screwdriving provides a way through which any business can automate the task of screwdriving and the best thing is that collaborative robots can be used for different processes and situations, even for high-mix, low-volume manufacturing. How the MIT mini cheetah learns to run

April 25, 2022 by David Edwards

By Rachel Gordon, MIT CSAIL

CSAIL scientists came up with a learning pipeline for the four-legged robot that learns to run entirely by trial and error in simulation (see video below)

It’s been roughly 23 years since one of the first robotic animals trotted on the scene, defying classical notions of our cuddly four-legged friends.

Since then, a barrage of the walking, dancing, and door-opening machines have commanded their presence, a sleek mixture of batteries, sensors, metal, and motors. [Read more…] about How the MIT mini cheetah learns to run

Saintonge becomes first hospital in France to install the Dexter surgical robot

April 25, 2022 by David Edwards

Saintonge says it has become the first hospital in France to install the Dexter surgical robot, which was developed by Distalmotion, a Swiss company.

With its new Dexter system Saintonge Hospital says it is pioneering a new approach to best-in-class minimally invasive care called “on-demand robotics”.

This new concept allows laparoscopic surgeons to choose their preferred tools for every step of a surgical procedure. Sometimes these will be handheld tools, manipulated manually at bedside. [Read more…] about Saintonge becomes first hospital in France to install the Dexter surgical robot
