Opinion: Will autonomous cars ever gain regulatory approval to operate freely on public roads?

December 13, 2024 by Mark Allinson

The news that General Motors has decided to fold Cruise into its overall business should send shock waves through the industry. If Cruise can’t do it, with all its money and giant parent’s backing, who can?

Cruise is a relatively new startup which had huge optimism around it because several billion dollars were invested into it and a lot of people still believe autonomous cars are the future of global road traffic.

But after burning through $10 billion and only generating $500 million in revenue, Cruise seems to have lost its parent company’s confidence and has now been absorbed into the historic automotive giant, with its technology being repackaged into GM production cars as, essentially, an advanced driver assistance system called “Super Cruise”. Analyzing the Impact of Regulatory Changes on Crypto

April 8, 2024 by Mark Allinson

Cryptocurrencies are now a fundamental part of the global financial landscape, offering decentralized alternatives to traditional fiat currencies.

This decentralization challenges existing regulatory frameworks, necessitating a critical examination of their impact on the broader financial ecosystem.

Regulatory changes play a crucial role in guiding the cryptocurrency market, given the absence of centralized oversight. This dynamic regulatory landscape compels global authorities to adapt to complexities introduced by the ascent of digital currencies, shaping their future. SkyDrive launches ‘world’s smallest flying car’

September 1, 2020 by Mai Tao

A Japanese startup company called SkyDrive has unveiled what it claims is the world’s smallest flying car. (See video below.)

Designed to carry one person, the vehicle could be said to be the aerial equivalent of a motorcycle.

SkyDrive says it can put the what we’ll call the “airbike” into mass production in just two years’ time, by which time there should be more regulations about aerial vehicles. [Read more…] about SkyDrive launches ‘world’s smallest flying car’

April 23, 2020 by David Edwards

Audi will gradually initiate the restart of production at its plants in Europe during the coming weeks.

The company had announced the temporary suspension of production at its European sites in mid-March.

Hitachi electric vehicle inverter adopted for the Audi e-tron

May 31, 2019 by Anna

Hitachi Automotive Systems, Ltd.’s electric vehicle (EV) inverter has been adopted by Audi for its first mass production EV, the e-tron, which went on sale in Europe in March this year.

With tightened environmental regulations around the world, many countries are driving for greater adoption of electric vehicles.

This has led to the demand for more efficient and higher-output electric motors, inverters, and other electric powertrain systems that will contribute to high performance EVs.
