8 tips on finding a good job without a degree

February 10, 2021 by Liv

There is no arguing that college is a pivotal time in the lives of many people. It offers plenty of opportunities to explore, learn, and experience life.

That said, giving the somewhat obsolete college education a try is not something that everyone does. While some choose to turn down the college path due to unaffordability, others have their personal reasons.

Regardless, there is a silver lining here. True, not everyone can be a Mark Zuckerberg or Bill Gates after dropping out of college. [Read more…] about 8 tips on finding a good job without a degree

ABB Dynamic Assembly Pack provides ‘missing last piece’ in automating final trim assembly applications

August 28, 2020 by David Edwards

ABB says its Dynamic Assembly Pack provides the “missing last piece” in automating final trim assembly applications. (See video below.)

New force control sensors enable robots to accurately perform assembly tasks during final trim assembly, improving productivity, ergonomics and quality.

Designed to offer a fast, accurate and safe automated solution for installing anything from seats, dashboards and carpets inside vehicle bodies, to doors, bumpers and wheels outside the vehicle, ABB’s new Dynamic Assembly Pack for Final Trim and Assembly (FTA) combines real time vision cameras on the robot gripper and arms with integrated force control sensors to allow the robot to precisely track the position of the car body as it enters the workstation. AMS launches new position sensors for high-speed electric motors to ‘improve car industry’s electrification efforts’

June 3, 2020 by David Edwards

AMS, a supplier of high performance sensor solutions, has introduced new position sensors that it says lower system cost and enhance electrification of safety-critical vehicle functions such as power steering, active damper control, and braking for safer, smarter, and greener cars.

The two new position sensors – the ams AS5147U and the AS5247U – bring new benefits and a lower system cost to the automotive industry, says ams.

The ams AS5147U is an intelligent magnetic rotary position sensor chip for use in electric motors that run at speeds up to 28,000 rpm. [Read more…] about AMS launches new position sensors for high-speed electric motors to ‘improve car industry’s electrification efforts’

BHS Technologies unveils RoboticScope to assist surgeons

June 2, 2020 by David Edwards

A Swiss company called BHS Technologies has unveiled a specially designed robot to assist surgeons, claiming it to be a world first.

“A high-precision robot, a high-resolution 3D camera and an innovative head-mounted display – the world’s first RoboticScope has arrived on the market,” says the company, adding that it “sets new standards in microsurgery”.

Essentially, the system uses a head-mounted display to translate small head movements of the surgeon directly into movements of the robotic arm, enabling the surgeon to view exactly what they want. [Read more…] about BHS Technologies unveils RoboticScope to assist surgeons

Factories can save up to 90 per cent in valve monitoring costs with wireless IoT sensors

October 29, 2019 by Editor

Factories and plants in industries – such as chemical processing, pulp and paper, water and waste-water treatment, have seen the benefits of remote valve monitoring.

Traditional retrofitted monitoring solutions, however, are costly and slow to deploy for factories with thousands of manual valves of different types.

There is a more cost-effective alternative – factories have evidenced a 90 percent reduction in retrofitting investment, by using industry-grade wireless sensors and Industrial IoT technologies.
