OnRobot unveils new palletizer for material handling

June 14, 2022 by Mark Allinson

OnRobot, the world leader in hardware and software solutions for collaborative applications, has launched OnRobot Palletizer, a complete collaborative palletizing solution designed to take the physical and financial pain out of palletizing processes.

OnRobot Palletizer extends OnRobot’s application-first approach to collaborative automation by letting users choose a palletizing system that works for their specific application needs thanks to its space saving footprint, and ability to handle many different types of boxes, packages, patterns, pallets and stacking heights.

Compatible with collaborative robot and light industrial robots from the Doosan, Fanuc, Omron, Techman and Universal Robots brands, the OnRobot Palletizer is available as a complete out-of-the-box system or as individual components to create a mix-and-match solution. Universal Robots powers new mixed-case palletizing and piece-picking solutions at MODEX 2022

March 26, 2022 by David Edwards

Universal Robots, a manufacturer of collaborative robots, will show attendees at North America’s largest supply chain expo how cobots can automate new hard-to-staff palletizing and piece-picking tasks in new applications from partners including Mujin and RightHand Robotics.

1 trillion dollars. That’s the astounding figure US e-commerce will reach in 2022, up 16 percent from 2021, according to Insider Intelligence forecasts, prompting warehousing labor wages to increase four times faster than before the pandemic.

“But despite wage increases, logistics operations are still having a very hard time hiring and retaining frontline workers,” says Joe Campbell, senior manager of applications development with Universal Robots (UR). RoboDK releases intuitive palletizing plugin for any robot brand

December 8, 2021 by Mark Allinson

Robot software company RoboDK has released a new palletizing plugin for intuitive programming of palletizing applications, compatible with almost any robot brand. It accelerates this normally tedious programming task and improves deployment efficiency.

Palletizing is an increasingly common application for robotic automation. For human workers, lifting containers onto pallets is dull and increases the risk of musculoskeletal injuries due to its repetitive nature.

Robots have long provided an alternative to manual palletizing. However, programming the task has traditionally been tedious. [Read more…] about RoboDK releases intuitive palletizing plugin for any robot brand

ABB says its robots have boosted productivity at Nestlé’s Brazilian plants by ‘over 50 percent’

March 25, 2021 by David Edwards

ABB says its robots have boosted productivity at Nestlé’s Brazilian plants by more than 50 percent. The company says its SafeMove collaborative robot technology “enhances employee safety while increasing efficiency at Nestle’s confectionary factories”. (See video below.)

ABB robots are supporting Nestlé, the world’s largest food and beverage company, to improve the productivity of pallet loading in its chocolate manufacturing facilities in Brazil “by 53 percent”, using a new ABB palletizing robot solution.

While the company currently uses ABB Robotics palletizing solutions, the latest requirement was for a more compact cell that could fit into a smaller area and easily be replicated at other sites. An important requirement was for the robot to safely interact with employees, who occasionally need to enter the palletizing area to speed up pallet changes.
