Automation and the Future of Construction: Building Smarter and Faster

October 8, 2024 by Mark Allinson

There are thousands of paranoid think pieces online right now proselytising about the impact AI could have on the workforce.

If you’d believe the scaremongers, then you’d think we’re all about to be replaced by machines before the end of the decade. For those working in construction, however, the advent of AI isn’t going to take our jobs – it’s just going to make them easier.

As construction companies embrace these innovations, they are not only increasing efficiency but also driving sustainability and precision in ways previously unimaginable. [Read more…] about Automation and the Future of Construction: Building Smarter and Faster

Optimizing WordPress Performance: Tips for Faster Loading Websites

April 2, 2024 by Mark Allinson

Among all the issues impacting website performance, slow website speed is a major factor leading to visitor loss on your WordPress site. Studies have shown that users are more likely to abandon a site if it takes more than a few seconds to load.

Moreover, search engines like Google factor site speed into their ranking algorithms, meaning a slow website can also hinder your visibility and SEO efforts.

Fortunately, for WordPress users, myriad strategies are available to optimize website performance and ensure lightning-fast loading times. [Read more…] about Optimizing WordPress Performance: Tips for Faster Loading Websites

Scientists create new technique to generate holograms faster than any GPU

October 21, 2023 by David Edwards

Researchers propose a novel approach that utilizes deep learning to generate three-dimensional holograms from colored two-dimensional images – faster than a “state-of-the-art graphics processing unit”

Holograms have long held the promise of offering immersive three-dimensional (3D) experiences, but the challenges involved in generating them have limited their widespread use.

Capitalizing on the recent developments in deep learning, researchers from Chiba University now propose what they say is “a game-changing approach” that utilizes neural networks to transform ordinary two-dimensional color images into 3D holograms.

The researchers say their proposed approach can simplify 3D hologram generation and can find applications in numerous fields, including healthcare and entertainment. [Read more…] about Scientists create new technique to generate holograms faster than any GPU
