Flexiv launches ‘revolutionary’ force-controlled parallel robot

Flexiv, a builder of general-purpose robotics solutions, has released the latest addition to its product portfolio, the Moonlight adaptive parallel robot. 

Flexiv says Moonlight is the world’s first force-controlled parallel robot and is ideal for applications that require precise motion and force control, such as screw fastening, ultra-accurate loading, and polishing. It adds the new machine is “revolutionary”.

Incorporating Flexiv’s innovative force control technology, Moonlight can precisely measure force down to 0.1 N so even delicate objects can be handled. This makes tasks polishing and sanding uneven surfaces possible while guaranteeing output quality and practically eliminating workpiece damage. SICK launches ‘first’ 3D ToF camera with PL c

SICK introduces the first 3D time-of-flight (ToF) camera with Performance Level c (PL c) on the market – the safeVisionary2.

It was developed to support customers in becoming fully autonomous in addition to providing 3D localization and object recognition.

Point One Navigation launches new software for autonomous vehicles

Point One Navigation, a specialist in precise positioning technology, has made its FusionEngine software compatible with ST’s TeseoAPP (Teseo ASIL Precise Positioning) GNSS Chipset.

Point One says the combined solution assures functional safety at ASIL-B, a critical requirement for Level 3+ ADAS systems.

Techman Robot launches ‘all-in-one’ AI collaborative robot series

Techman Robot has launched its “TM AI Cobot” series, describing it as a “collaborative robot which combines a powerful and precise robot arm with native AI inferencing engine and smart vision system in a complete package”.

The company says the new machine is ready for deployment in factories and can accelerate the transition to Industry 4.0.

Techman says the TM AI Cobot works on the principle of being smart, simple and safe. By combining visual processing in the robot arm, the AI Cobot can perform fast and precise pick and place, AMR, palletizing, welding, semi-conductor and product manufacturing, automated optical inspections (AOI) and food service preparation, among many other applications that can be accelerated by AI-Vision. Swift Navigation raises $100 million to bring its autonomous navigation systems to market

Swift Navigation, a San Francisco-based tech firm developing GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and precise positioning technology for automotive ADAS (advanced driver-assistance systems) and autonomy, industrial machine control, commercial transportation, mobile and emerging mass-market applications, has completed a $100 million financing round.

The Series D Round was led by SK Inc and Potentum Partners with strong support from Swift’s existing investors, including New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Eclipse Ventures and EPIQ Capital Group.

The Series D Round included new investors: FM Capital, OVN Capital, TELUS Ventures, TWM Venture Co., Buckley Ventures, Schox Venture Capital and additional independent investors. ExcelsiusGPS robotic system used for brain surgery

Christus Health has become the first health provider to use a robotic system for brain surgery, describing the ExcelsiusGPS as “a world-class robotic guidance and navigation system”.

The ExcelsiusGPS system, built by Globus Medical, was used in the first Christus Ochsner Health case this week, setting a new standard for robotic neurosurgery procedures in Southwest Louisiana.

Bürkert Fluid Control Systems has developed a new pressure controller for gases. It ensures stable pressure conditions inside the dosing tank, thereby allowing even the smallest of quantities to be dosed with a high level of precision.

As a result, the fluidics expert offers coordinated system components for time-pressure dosing from a single source. Customers profit from a shorter development period. Further, the digital variant enables automated documentation.

ABB unveils weird magnetic levitation system for ‘multi-dimensional manufacturing’

ABB has expanded its flexible manufacturing portfolio with the launch of an innovative magnetic levitation shuttle system.

The solution is the result of a strategic partnership with Planar Motors (PMI), which enhances ABB business unit B&R’s adaptive machine offering, integrating PMI’s new production technology milestone in open, adaptive manufacturing.
