GTC Digital | Starting on Wednesday, March 25

Nvidia has redesigned its Jetson Developer Days as an online event called GTC Digital – GTC standing for GPU Technology Conference.

Starting on Wednesday, March 25, GTC Digital will host live webinars, sessions, trainings from the Nvidia Deep Learning Institute, and opportunities to connect with the experts.

‘Robots are revolutionizing the visual arts’, says RoboDK boss

“Robots are revolutionizing the visual arts by providing artists with new creative techniques,” says Albert Nubiola, CEO of robot simulation and programming software firm RoboDK.

Nubiola makes his comments as an exhibition of robot-made paintings opens in the prestigious Ben Brown Fine Arts gallery, London.

Conceived by digital arts pioneers Rob and Nick Carter, the ingenious “Dark Factory Portraits” exhibition features an industrial robot arm from Kuka – dubbed “Heidi”, by the artists – that produces fine art portraits of famous artists in acrylics. ZVerse and Forecast 3D form partnership for CAD as a service

ZVerse, developer of a “CAD as a service” platform for digital manufacturing, has partnered with Forecast 3D, a fastest-growing digital manufacturer, to provide ZVerse’s CAD as a Service platform to Forecast 3D’s customers.

This strategic partnership will give Forecast 3D customers direct access to the CADaaS platform on the Forecast 3D website.

Siemens’ MindSphere wins plaudit as industrial IoT platform

MindSphere, the industrial internet of things platform from Siemens, has been named a leader in its market by an independent research firm.

MindSphere can be described as an industrial technology “ecosystem”, which now integrates software from SAS, AWS, Microsoft, Alibaba and Arrow Electronics.

Siemens says the IIoT has the potential to significantly improve global productivity and growth, with Accenture estimating that this latest wave of digital innovation will accelerate the reinvention of sectors that account for almost two-thirds of world output and add $14.2 trillion to the global economy by 2030. ABB and Ericsson showcase 5G networks for industrial robots

ABB and Ericsson, together with Swisscom, demonstrated for the first time how “easily and effectively” robots can be controlled over wide distances utilizing the real-time communication capabilities of 5G.

ABB showcased the potential of no-latency communication enabled by 5G to world leaders during the recent World Economic Forum, in Davos.

Kuka launches new industrial robot range

Industrial automation giant Kuka is launching a new industrial robot range, the KR IonTec, which the company says is “a robot for any task in the 30 to 70 kg payload category”.

Kuka is market-launching the new product series, which it says is the successor to the KR 60-3.
