Flexiv, a provider of general-purpose robotics solutions, has developed a fully automatic massaging application for its Rizon 4 robot.

Powered by artificial intelligence, computer vision, and force feedback, the robot can provide a massage “equal to any human masseur”, boasts the company.

Bin-picking systems market forecast to grow to $5.6 billion by 2033

The global bin picking systems market is anticipated to be valued at $1.7 billion in 2023 and it is anticipated to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 12.5 percent to reach $5.6 billion by the end of 2033, according to a report by Fact.MR. 

A bin picking system is a technology in which a robot is incorporated with a 3D, camera, optical sensor (3D or 2D) and an end effector (magnet gripper, and others) to remove parts from a container full of disorganized, irregularly shaped pieces.

Sea Machines Robotics to introduce computer vision to US Coast Guard critical missions

Sea Machines Robotics, a developer of pioneering maritime autonomy and perception systems, has installed its new AI-ris computer vision product onboard a United States Coast Guard (USCG) 270’ Famous-class Medium Endurance Cutter ahead of the vessel’s upcoming deployment.

AI-ris uses artificial intelligence to identify and track visual targets of interest.

This installation was made possible under an ongoing Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) between Sea Machines Robotics and the USCG Research and Development Center in an effort to evaluate how computer vision systems can be utilized for autonomous navigation, collision avoidance, and target detection. While automated manufacturing is ubiquitous today, it was once a nascent field birthed by inventors such as Oliver Evans, who is credited with creating the first fully automated industrial process, in a flour mill he built and gradually automated in the late 1700s.

The processes for creating automated structures or machines are still very top-down, requiring humans, factories, or robots to do the assembling and making.
