Bota Systems unveils new force-torque sensor for heavy payloads

October 14, 2024 by Mark Allinson

Bota Systems, a pioneer in multi-axis force-torque sensors, has launched the SensONE T80, specifically designed for larger cobots. Featuring ISO-standard flanges on both sides, the sensor simplifies integration and ensures superior accuracy even with heavier payloads.

The SensONE T80 is equipped with ISO-9409-1-80-6-M8 flanges, directly matching the mounting flanges on the latest UR20 and UR30 collaborative robots from Universal Robots, eliminating the need for an adapter.

This streamlines the work of integrators by removing the need for additional engineering to design adapter mounting equipment, significantly reducing time to market. [Read more…] about Bota Systems unveils new force-torque sensor for heavy payloads

ABB launches ‘groundbreaking ultra accuracy’ feature for GoFa collaborative robots

September 26, 2024 by Mark Allinson

ABB Robotics has launched “Ultra Accuracy”, which it describes as a new industry-leading feature for its GoFa collaborative robot range.

The industrial giant says that Ultra Accuracy delivers “the highest level of precision available in cobots, enabling over 10 times greater path accuracy compared with other cobots on the market”.

Andrea Cassoni, global head of collaborative robots for ABB Robotics, says: “As industries look to automation to enhance product quality and achieve tighter tolerances – continuously decreasing the maximum allowable deviation from the standard in quality control – there is a growing need for robots that can perform tasks with exceptional precision.

Universal Robots showcases deep learning-based part detection for machine tending cobots at IMTS

September 11, 2024 by Mark Allinson

When Universal Robots (UR) recently surveyed 1,200 manufacturers across North America and Europe about their use of technology and future investment plans, over 50 percent of the respondents indicated they are now using AI and machine learning in their production processes.

“AI isn’t just hype,” says Ujjwal Kumar, group president of Teradyne Robotics, parent company of Universal Robots.

“We’re seeing significant interest in physical AI. By adding high-performance compute hardware to our control systems and investing in targeted software upgrades, we’re establishing UR as the preferred robotics platform for developing and deploying AI applications.” [Read more…] about Universal Robots showcases deep learning-based part detection for machine tending cobots at IMTS

Universal Robots app store now has offers than 500 products

August 5, 2024 by Mark Allinson

Universal Robots, the Danish collaborative robot (cobot) company, has reached a new milestone, says it has now launched over 500 products through its “UR+ ecosystem”, which is like an “app store” for the cobot community built around UR robots, and is also sometimes referred to as a marketplace.

This marks a significant growth in the ecosystem since it started in 2016 with the ambition of making Universal Robots (UR) an open-source-like platform that would empower developers to create groundbreaking solutions.

Today, the UR+ ecosystem offers a wide range of components, kits, applications and solutions within both hardware and software designed to meet various customer needs. [Read more…] about Universal Robots app store now has offers than 500 products

Cobots, Robot Offline Programming and 3D simulation: The driving forces behind the manufacturing evolution

June 3, 2024 by Abdul Montaqim

The collaborative robot (cobot) market is on a significant upward curve. Its global value is expected to be worth $11.8 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 35.2% from 2024.

In contrast to robots, cobots are designed to work in tandem with humans, with a tangible impact on cost, employee satisfaction, ROI and health & safety. They are also ideally placed to support understaffed workforces as the skills shortage in the sector continues.

But these automated machines do require effective programming to accurately complete their tasks and streamline factory floor processes, otherwise manufacturers face a difficult situation in not being able to deploy cobots where they are most needed.
