Comau exoskeleton ‘first’ to be awarded EAWS certification

Comau Robotics & Automation claims its “MATE” exoskeleton is the first on the market to receive the Ergonomic Assessment Work-Sheet certification.

The company says the certification provides clear evidence of its exoskeleton’s effectiveness in reducing the “risk of biomechanical overload” of the upper limbs.

Based on the evaluation system promoted by Ergo Foundation, Italy’s reference for the organization and measurement of work and ergonomics, the successful recognition studied workers who used MATE to perform daily tasks requiring flexion-extension of the arms. New Scale Robotics earns UR+ certification for its components

New Scale Robotics says its NSR-PG-10-20-URe Gripper/Caliper and NSR-MTM-3-URe Multi-Tool Mount have received UR+ Certification from Universal Robots.

With this certification, UR confirms that it has tested and approved the products to work with UR e-Series collaborative robots to provide fast deployment, simple programming and reliable operation.

Panasonic obtains international certification for robotic mobility chair

Panasonic has obtained the international safety standard IEC 62061 certification for its safety control system designed for robotic mobility chair.

The IEC standard is required by the international safety standard ISO 13482 applicable to personal care robots.

This certification means that the Japan Quality Assurance Organization has recognized that Panasonic’s safety control system for personal care robots conforms to the IEC 62061 standard: “Safety of machinery – functional safety of safety-related electrical, electronic and programmable electronic systems”. UPS attains FAA’s first full approval for drone airline

UPS subsidiary UPS Flight Forward says it has received the US government’s first full Part 135 Standard certification to operate a drone airline.

The company will initially expand its drone delivery service further to support hospital campuses around the country, and to provide solutions for customers beyond those in the healthcare industry.

JMP Solutions earns new control system integration certification

JMP Solutions, industrial technology partner to Fortune 1000 companies, has earned CSIA Certified status in the Control System Integrators Association “Best Practices and Benchmarks” certification program.

This marks the 13th year JMP has held this coveted certification with CSIA, after receiving its initial certification in 2006. JMP is one of only 83 companies in the world that is CSIA certified.

Samsung enhances functional safety in its automotive semiconductors

Samsung Electronics has received the ISO 26262 certification for functional safety in automotive components from TÜV Rheinland, a third-party testing, inspection and certification company.

The accreditation of Samsung’s new functional safety management system ensures that the company’s advanced automotive semiconductors, such as processors, image sensors, memory and light emitting diode (LED) solutions, satisfy the industry’s rigid safety standards throughout the product development process.

As the adoption of electronic components in automobiles continue to increase and the development of future applications are accelerated across industries, the importance of automotive safety standards for semiconductor components as well as their level of sophistication have also risen.

HP and Siemens deepen additive manufacturing alliance

HP and Siemens have announced an expansion of their strategic alliance in industrial additive manufacturing (AM).

The two companies will incorporate new systems and software innovations including overall product life-cycle management (PLM), AM factory optimisation and industrial 3D printing.

The expanded additive manufacturing solution from Siemens and HP integrates hardware, software, data intelligence, and services to optimise the efficiency of the entire manufacturing process.

Office building in Montreal given top energy-efficiency certification

The Le 1500, an office building in Montreal

 

A landmark building in Montreal, Canada has been given an energy-efficiency certification.

Le 1500, an office building on Robert-Bourassa Boulevard in Montreal, is now “Leed” certified in the category of “Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance” by the Canada Green Building Council.
