Heavy Equipment Manufacturers Are Using Robotics to Change Crane Trucks

March 27, 2026 by Sam Francis

A number of individuals have spoken about robotics with respect to heavy equipment. However, they typically consider autonomous mining vehicles, warehouse management systems, and construction machines.

The majority of these individuals overlook an extremely obvious shift that is taking place in truck mounted cranes. Crane trucks are becoming smart due to the advent of new technology to assist the operator by making his job safer.  [Read more…] about Heavy Equipment Manufacturers Are Using Robotics to Change Crane Trucks

Bedrock Robotics begins supervised autonomous excavation on live construction sites as it moves toward commercialization

November 20, 2025 by David Edwards

Bedrock Robotics says it has been conducting “the construction industry’s largest-known supervised autonomy deployment for mass excavation”, partnering with Sundt Construction on site preparation for a 130-acre domestic manufacturing facility.

On just this project alone, Bedrock’s autonomous systems have so far moved over 65,000 cubic yards by loading human-operated articulating dump trucks with the same workflow used in manual operations – a seamless integration that demonstrates a leap forward in commercial autonomous construction.

The company’s technology is now installed across multiple excavator models ranging from 20-ton to 80-ton machines, adapting its systems from compact units to large-scale earthmovers.
