Avidbots raises $70 million in latest funding round

Avidbots, one of the world’s leading robotics companies, today announced it has raised $70 million in Series C funding.

The financing was led by Jeneration Capital, with strong participation from existing investors True Ventures, Next 47, SOSV, GGV Capital, BDC Capital, Golden Ventures, and Kensington Capital Partners.

ABB integrates ASTI and rebrands autonomous mobile robot portfolio as Flexley

ABB has launched its first range of rebranded autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) following its acquisition of mobile robot startup ASTI Mobile Robotics in 2021.

Since adding AMRs to its portfolio, ABB claims it is “the only company with a comprehensive and integrated offering of robots, AMRs and machine automation solutions”.

Peer Robotics raises $2.3 million in seed funding round

Peer Robotics, a new mobile robotics solution for manufacturing, has raised $2.3 million in seed funding led by Kalaari Capital, with participation from existing investors Axilor Ventures, Connecticut Innovations and Innopact VC.

Rishabh Agarwal, co-founder, and CEO of Peer Robotics, says: “Small and medium-size companies are struggling with the labor shortage today, not to mention high turn-over.

Mercedes-Benz claims its ‘Drive Pilot’ is world’s first internationally certified Level 3 automated car technology

Mercedes-Benz says its Drive Pilot automated driver assistance system has become the world’s first internationally certified Level 3 automated car technology. The company adds that it backs redundancy for safe conditionally automated driving.

When it comes to conditionally automated driving (SAE Level 3), safety and reliability are the top priorities for Mercedes-Benz. Drive Pilot is therefore based on a system architecture that enables safe control of all situations that could potentially arise.

To this end, braking, steering, power supply and some parts of the sensor system are designed with physical and functional redundancy.
