The Role of Advanced Diagnostics in Modern Vehicles

February 21, 2025 by Mark Allinson

Drivers can now no longer simply pop the hood to work on their cars. Understanding automotive technology is equally important as understanding mechanics.

Whether you’re an enthusiast or a professional mechanic, knowing how diagnostic systems work is crucial in today’s digitized vehicles.

This post will explore how advanced diagnostic tools, software, and sensors transform vehicle maintenance, allowing mechanics to identify and resolve issues with greater precision. [Read more…] about The Role of Advanced Diagnostics in Modern Vehicles

Virginia Tech scientists turn robotic hardware into flatware

February 20, 2025 by Mark Allinson

Over 2 million adults living in the United States rely on a caregiver’s assistance to eat daily meals. In addition to human caregivers, technology has been developed to provide assistance.

For example, tabletop and wheelchair-mounted robotic arms have been programmed to pick up foods and bring them to the human operator.

Virginia Tech’s Assistant Professor Dylan Losey brought a team together with backgrounds in both assistive robotics and computer science to explore new technological possibilities for those with limited mobility. [Read more…] about Virginia Tech scientists turn robotic hardware into flatware

‘More than 20 billion robots’ set to dominate humanity by 2050, predicts powerful, oil-rich Arab state minister

February 14, 2025 by Mark Allinson

A frightening number of robots are set to overwhelm and dominate humanity, if the prediction of a powerful, oil-rich Arab state minister is anything to go by.

Speaking at a high-level meeting of globally important government officials, including Elon Musk, Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi (pictured with Musk in main image), minister of cabinet affairs of the United Arab Emirates and chairman of the World Government Summit, suggests an astonishing “20 billion robots” will bash human beings into shape, in a manner of speaking.

Under the theme of “Shaping Future Governments”, Gergawi posits that an unprecedented number of robots will reshape human lifestyles, human labour markets and human societies – effectively making the world robot-oriented, rather than human-centred.
