Vention unveils AI-powered bin picking system to ‘transform robots into reliable, autonomous operators’

Vention, the provider of a software and hardware automation platform, will debut its AI-driven bin-picking technology at Nvidia GTC, an artificial intelligence (AI) conference for developers, held recently in San Jose, California, in the US.

This new AI-driven process eliminates complex and expensive custom solutions that require programming – simplifying adoption of this in-demand automation solution. Vention is slated to commercialize its AI-driven bin-picking technology later this year.

During a live demonstration, an ABB GoFa CRB 15000 robot – equipped with vision, finger grippers, and connected to a Vention MachineMotion AI controller – will demonstrate its autonomous capabilities. Google DeepMind releases two new AI models for robotics development

Google DeepMind has introduced two new artificial intelligence models – Gemini Robotics and Gemini Robotics-ER (short for “embodied reasoning”). Google says this marks a “major step forward” in the development of AI systems designed to control real-world robots.

Both models are built on the Gemini 2.0 platform and are aimed at enabling robots to perform a wide range of tasks with greater generality, interactivity, and dexterity. Wandelbots releases new operating system for robots

Wandelbots has released “Nova”, which it describes as “the agnostic robot operating system”. The software made its debut at ProMat 2025 in Chicago, which marked the first time Nova has been presented live in the US.

Flexiv Robotics expands operations in Singapore

Flexiv, a developer of general-purpose robotics solutions, is expanding its operations in Singapore, which the company describes as a “key market” because the country is “committed to adopting cutting-edge technology to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve productivity”.

According to the latest International Federation of Robotics data, Singapore boasts a robot density of 730 to 770 robots per 10,000 employees making it second only to South Korea.

ABB expands robotic item-picking range for fashion and logistics industries

ABB is expanding its portfolio of robotic solutions for logistics and e-commerce supply chains with the addition of two new AI-powered functional modules to its Item Picking range.

Featuring ABB’s own AI-based vision technology, tested by world leading fashion retail and logistics companies, the Fashion Inductor and Parcel Inductor offer solutions for two of the most critical logistics processes: item picking and sorter induction.

Honeywell to power Corvus Robotics drones to automate inventory tracking in warehouses

Honeywell has launched its SwiftDecoder barcode-decoding software will be integrated into Corvus Robotics’ self-flying inventory drones.

Chinese industrial robot makers challenge global giants as market expected to reach 649,000 units by 2030

China is the largest single industrial robot adopter, and the global demand for robots remains high. ABI Research, a global technology intelligence firm, forecasts shipments to grow from approximately 400,000 in 2024 to 649,000 by 2030, a steady compound annual growth rate of 7.4 percent.

The umbrella term, industrial robot, encompasses high payload, high repeatability robotic arms. These include SCARA robots, often utilized for assembly tasks, delta robots which excel at rapid picking, and Cartesian robots, which can be deployed for material handling tasks.

Industrial robots, the backbone of manufacturing economies, will continue to enjoy rising sales as geographic shifts in manufacturing trends begin to take root. Accordingly, revenues generated from industrial robot hardware sales are set to rise from $14.7 billion in 2024 to $22.6 billion by the end of the decade. BlueBotics unveils new asset tracing and transport flow system

Autonomous navigation and fleet management software provider BlueBotics – whose ANT navigation technology drives over 6,000 AGVs and AMRs around the world – has launched ANT locator, a new and “highly flexible” vehicle tracking and mixed fleet management solution that will be commercially available from June 2025.

Dr Nicola Tomatis, CEO of BlueBotics, says: “Based on our proven vehicle positioning technology, ANT locator allows companies to understand exactly where their forklifts are, and therefore where their pallets are too, whether inside or outdoors.
