Robots for agriculture: Technical advances outpacing market adoption

A new strawberry-picking robot developed in Japan is drawing global attention for its ability to autonomously harvest strawberries with minimal human intervention.

Designed by researchers at Osaka Metropolitan University, the robot combines 3D cameras, AI, and an autonomous mobility system to navigate greenhouse beds and identify ripe strawberries for harvest.

Peak Technologies opens global headquarters in Littleton, Massachusetts

Peak Technologies, a provider of smart technologies, automated supply chain and mobile workforce solutions, hosted a ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony for the company’s global headquarters and Executive Briefing Center (EBC) in Littleton, Massachusetts.

Attendees at the grand opening and ribbon-cutting attended a luncheon and were able to tour the expanded 60,000 square foot headquarters, which includes innovative technology stations demonstrating advanced automation for the warehouse.

Cosmic Robotics secures $4 million to speed up solar infrastructure installations

Cosmic Robotics has raised $4 million to build AI-powered robots to accelerate the buildout of critical infrastructure, starting with utility-scale solar.

The round was led by Giant Ventures, with participation from MaC Venture Capital, HCVC, and prominent angel investors including Azeem Azhar, Aarthi Ramamurthy, and Nate Williams.

NASA selects ​HEBI to develop construction robots for building on the moon

HEBI Robotics has entered into a Non-Reimbursable Space Act Agreement with NASA’s Ames Research Center to support the development of autonomous robotic systems for assembling infrastructure on the lunar surface.

This collaboration is part of NASA’s Autonomous Robotic Assembly of Lunar Surface Infrastructure (ARC-LSI) Study, aiming to advance technologies for constructing adaptable structures in space.​

Building upon the Automated Reconfigurable Mission Adaptive Digital Assembly Systems (ARMADAS) project, the partnership focuses on creating modular habitats, satellites, and telescopes using autonomous multi-agent robotic systems. Xaba raises $6 million to build ‘synthetic brains’ for industrial robots

Xaba, a startup which says it is building “synthetic brains for industrial robots with zero code”, has secured a $6 million seed extension to accelerate the deployment of AI-powered robotics and cognitive industrial control systems.

The round was led by Hitachi Ventures with participation from Hazelview Ventures, BDC Capital, Exposition Ventures, and Impact Venture Capital.

ForwardX Robotics opens advanced ‘self-production facility’ in China

ForwardX Robotics, a provider of autonomous mobile robots for warehouses, claims it is now “one of the few” robotics companies with full self-production capabilities after the company opened a new facility in Wuhu, Anhui, in China.

The factory manages the entire process – from assembly to testing – entirely in-house, underscoring ForwardX’s commitment to “self-sufficient production”, and highlighting its “dedication to delivering world-class robotics solutions”.
