Hirebotics launches ‘no-code explosion-proof’ collaborative robot for industrial painting

June 30, 2026 by Sam Francis

Hirebotics, a provider of collaborative robot solutions for metal fabrication, has announced the first explosion-proof cobot solution built using its no-code Beacon platform and the Fanuc CRX-10iA/L Paint hardware.

Hirebotics’ Cobot Painter is available now, offering metal fabricators and manufacturers a practical, high-mix, low-volume alternative to manual spraying and complex automated lines.

In the past, fabrication shops and other manufacturers had to outsource coating work, as traditional automation lines were too costly and complex. [Read more…] about Hirebotics launches ‘no-code explosion-proof’ collaborative robot for industrial painting

The future of industrial robot programming: Easier, faster, more intuitive

December 20, 2025 by David Edwards

For decades, industrial robots have grown steadily more capable. Modern robot arms can move faster, more smoothly and more precisely than ever before, executing complex, multi-axis motion with sub-millimetre repeatability in harsh industrial environments.

Yet for many manufacturers, programming these machines remains one of the biggest obstacles to wider automation. The issue is not that robot software is inherently weaker than robot hardware, nor that robots are approaching human-level dexterity.

Rather, it is that the ways humans interact with industrial robots have not kept pace with the mechanical capabilities of the machines themselves.

As factories face labour shortages, shorter product cycles and rising product variation, this mismatch between robot potential and programming effort is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. [Read more…] about The future of industrial robot programming: Easier, faster, more intuitive

Applied Materials makes ‘strategic investment’ in Augmentus

October 27, 2025 by Sam Francis

Augmentus, the Singapore-based pioneer in AI-robotics and adaptive automation, has announced a strategic investment from Applied Ventures, the venture capital arm of Applied Materials.

This investment marks a significant milestone in Augmentus’ mission to enable intelligent, autonomous robotics for high-mix, high-variability manufacturing across the globe.

At the heart of Augmentus’ innovation is its flagship AutoPath robotics stack, designed to be both the eyes and the brains of industrial robots. The system combines advanced 3D vision with adaptive intelligence to give robots an unprecedented ability to perceive, understand, and act. Mitsubishi Electric says its robots are ‘bridging skills gaps’ in automation technology

July 17, 2025 by David Edwards

The global manufacturing landscape is increasingly embracing robotics, as evidenced by a substantial rise in installations worldwide.

According to the World Robotics 2024 Report, over 4.28 million robots are now operating in factories, marking a 10 percent increase, with annual installations surpassing half a million units for the third consecutive year.

This trend reflects not only a growing reliance on robotics to enhance production capabilities but also demonstrates that companies are effectively overcoming key implementation challenges associated with robotics integration. Augmentus raises $11 million to scale physical AI for complex robotic surface finishing and welding

July 9, 2025 by David Edwards

Augmentus, the developer of an intelligent no-code robotics solution, has raised $11 million (SGD $14 million) in a Series A+ funding round.

The funds will be used to accelerate regional deployment of its fully autonomous robotic surface finishing and welding systems, fulfill demand from marquee manufacturing customers, and advance R&D into hyper-adaptive, AI-driven robotic systems built for the factory floor.

The round was led by Woori VP, with participation from new investor EDBI, alongside returning backers Sierra Ventures and Cocoon Capital. [Read more…] about Augmentus raises $11 million to scale physical AI for complex robotic surface finishing and welding
