New generation of robotic cells to drive flexible, zero-emission aerospace manufacturing

February 6, 2026 by Sam Francis

Achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and improving competitiveness by reducing production costs is the dual objective set by the aeronautical industry.

This goal is currently hampered by the dependence on heavy, expensive, and inflexible machinery in manufacturing processes.

To address this situation, the technology centre IDEKO has contributed to the development of a new generation of flexible, sensorised and connected robotic cells within the framework of the ROBOCOMP project. New York Robotics launches as region’s startup count passes 160

February 3, 2026 by Sam Francis

New York Robotics has formally launched as a non-profit organisation, citing rapid growth in robotics startups, investment activity, and talent across New York City and the wider Tri-State region.

The group said its ecosystem now includes more than 160 robotics startups across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, with nearly 100 based in New York City alone. The figures underline the region’s growing role in robotics and embodied AI as the technology moves from research into commercial deployment.

New York Robotics said the scale of activity positions the region alongside established global robotics hubs such as Boston, Silicon Valley, Pittsburgh, Munich, Zurich, and Denmark. [Read more…] about New York Robotics launches as region’s startup count passes 160

The view from Universal Robots: Four physical AI predictions for 2026 and beyond

January 31, 2026 by Sam Francis

By Anders Billesø Beck, vice president, AI robotics products at Universal Robots

The robotics industry is evolving faster than ever, and the signals of what’s next are already visible. As someone focused on shaping the future of automation, I see four trends that will redefine how robots create value.

From smarter math and cooperative behaviors to industry-specific AI and a new data economy, here’s what I predict will matter most in the years ahead. [Read more…] about The view from Universal Robots: Four physical AI predictions for 2026 and beyond

Connecting Machines: How eSIMs Are Shaping the Future of Global Robotic Networks

January 25, 2026 by Sam Francis

If you’ve been watching the robotic landscape, you may have noticed that robots no longer operate in isolation.

We now see machines used as part of global systems that rely on constant data exchange. Think factories, warehouses, farms, research labs, and hospitals, to name a few.

What’s changing the game is not just smarter hardware or better AI, but connectivity. Specifically, the ability for machines to communicate reliably across borders. [Read more…] about Connecting Machines: How eSIMs Are Shaping the Future of Global Robotic Networks

What Are the 5 Key Components of a Robot and How Do They Work?

January 24, 2026 by Sam Francis

Robots may appear simple from the outside, but internally, they are complex integrated systems composed of multiple elements that work together.

At the most basic level, every robot functions through a combination of the 5 key components: power supply, sensors, control unit, actuators, and end effectors.

In this blog, we will explore the 5 key components of a general robot and understand how they work. [Read more…] about What Are the 5 Key Components of a Robot and How Do They Work?

What’s the Best Way to Reduce Cable Failures in Moving Robots (Arms, AGVs, and Humanoid Joints)?

December 29, 2025 by Sam Francis

If you have ever dealt with robotic systems, you know cables are something you cannot live without and at the same time you hate them so much. They are the lifelines that operate the motors, transmit and ensure that everything works well.

However, these cables are beaten up when robots are in motion, maybe it is a robotic arm on an assembly line, an autonomous guided vehicle (AGV) dashing about a warehouse or the joints of a humanoid robot moving their parts about in unusual manners.

Cable breakdowns can cause your whole business to come to a standstill, time, money and a hundred headaches. [Read more…] about What’s the Best Way to Reduce Cable Failures in Moving Robots (Arms, AGVs, and Humanoid Joints)?

Beyond Silicon Valley: The cities and regions around the world emerging as leading hubs for robotics technology and finance

December 20, 2025 by David Edwards

For much of the past half-century, Silicon Valley has been shorthand for technological innovation. Its influence on computing, semiconductors, software and, more recently, artificial intelligence is undisputed. Robotics, however, has always been a more complicated case.

While Silicon Valley has played an important role in shaping the software, sensing – that is, sensor technologies – and the investment side of robotics, it has never dominated robot manufacturing or deployment in the way that Japan or Germany have.

As robotics matures into an industrial sector rather than a purely experimental one, innovation is becoming increasingly distributed. Today, some of the most important advances are emerging far from Northern California. Automation in Food Processing

December 8, 2025 by David Edwards

Artificial intelligence has learned to draw, write songs, and generate code – this is no longer surprising. Now, robots have almost mastered cooking. We explain why this is important and what innovations in food processing automation are happening in the industry right now.  [Read more…] about Automation in Food Processing

Why Factories Trust Robotics and Vision Tools for Better Food Quality Control

December 5, 2025 by David Edwards

Facilities now use smart tools and software instead of relying only on people to catch mistakes. These systems watch products while they move through factories and look for anything that seems different from the expected condition. They can notice foreign pieces, broken parts, or issues with wrapping before goods leave the building.

Firms also depend on these to avoid problems that could damage their name. When faults are found early, fewer items also need to be pulled back from stores. The information collected further helps teams understand where mistakes happen. Over time, routines become smoother and the quality of goods reaching shelves improves. The real test of robotics: Can insights reach the factory floor?

December 4, 2025 by David Edwards

By Jason Hehman, industrials vertical lead, TXI

Robotics and AI promise major productivity gains in industrial contexts. The biggest challenge, in many cases, is translating those promises into actual utility on the factory floor.

The problem is that there is not (and there never will be) magical technology that works in every industrial context. The good news, however, is that there are basic principles that industrial leaders can use over and over to ensure that their technology investments lead to meaningful improvements for frontline operations.

Those principles: experimentation, user-centered design, and frontline delivery. Here, I’ll explain how industrial leaders can incorporate all three to consistently see positive ROI from tech investments. [Read more…] about The real test of robotics: Can insights reach the factory floor?
