EGR Delete: The Fix for Your Engine’s Built-in Design Flaw

March 11, 2026 by David Edwards

Modern diesel engines are built to balance performance with strict emissions standards. While that balance satisfies regulators, it often creates long-term reliability issues for owners.

One of the most debated components in this equation is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system. Designed to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions, it reroutes exhaust gases back into the intake. Over time, however, this process introduces soot, carbon, and excess heat into the engine.

For many diesel enthusiasts, installing an EGR delete kit is seen as a practical solution to this built-in design compromise. [Read more…] about EGR Delete: The Fix for Your Engine’s Built-in Design Flaw

Viewpoint: Why ‘always-on’ environments break most robotics deployments – and how to fix them

March 7, 2026 by David Edwards

By Nohtal Partansky, founder and CEO, and Patrick DeGrosse Jr, director of engineering, Sorting Robotics

Most robotics deployments don’t run into trouble because a motor was undersized or because someone wrote bad control logic. In our experience, the problems usually show up after the system leaves validation and starts operating in an environment that behaves nothing like the one it was tested in.

In a lab, conditions are stable and closely observed. The air is relatively clean, operators are attentive and specifically trained, and throughput is controlled. If something drifts out of calibration, it is usually caught early because the entire purpose of the environment is observation and testing. Production environments are built around output, not observation.

Once a system moves into a 24/7 facility, particularly in a regulated setting, the priorities shift. The machine is expected to keep up with volume targets, staffing rotates, and environmental variables that were minor during testing become persistent realities. That shift changes how small technical issues evolve into more serious problems over time. Cognibotics receives $1.7 million order for its robot calibration technology

March 6, 2026 by David Edwards

Cognibotics has announced that a “leading global industrial robot manufacturer” has placed an order valued at approximately SEK 16 million ($1.7 million) for its CogniCal robot calibration technology.

The order expands the customer’s use of CogniCal in robot production, and reinforces the growing role of calibration in industrial robot manufacturing.

CogniCal’s high-accuracy robot performance compensates for geometric deviations, elastic effects, and payload influence. The result is improved accuracy, reduced variance between robots, and shorter start time for end customers.
