How to Prep Your Factory for AI-Powered Robotics

August 21, 2025 by Mai Tao

AI-driven robotics can revolutionize production efficiency when implemented correctly. The challenge is reaching this point without encountering one of the many obstacles that lie in your path.

To that end, here are the main strategies needed for readiness, taking you from discovery to scaled integration as seamlessly as possible. [Read more…] about How to Prep Your Factory for AI-Powered Robotics

As Moravec predicted, AI is taking your office jobs but will let you live if you do the dishes and laundry… for now

August 12, 2025 by Mai Tao

The conversation about AI replacing human jobs is no longer entirely hypothetical. We are well past the era of speculative think pieces about whether machines might someday take over our work.

That future is already here – and it’s showing up in surprising places.

What makes this moment different from past automation waves is that AI is now targeting roles once considered safe: creative, analytical, and highly paid white-collar jobs.

The “robots” in question are not assembly line arms, but digital minds like ChatGPT, Claude, and GitHub Copilot – systems capable of generating text, code, images, and even making strategic decisions. Reinforcement learning in robotics: Robots that learn from experience

August 8, 2025 by David Edwards

Reinforcement learning (RL) is transforming the way robots interact with the world.

Unlike traditional programming or supervised learning, which depend on pre-defined rules or labeled datasets, RL enables robots to learn through trial and error – much like how humans and animals acquire new skills.

This approach is increasingly vital as robots are deployed in complex, unstructured environments where adaptability is key. [Read more…] about Reinforcement learning in robotics: Robots that learn from experience

Building AI Agents That Respect Context: Lessons from Scaling Human-Like Support Across 10,000 Tickets

August 7, 2025 by Mai Tao

In the race to deploy AI-powered customer support, many vendors tout their bots as “context-aware”. But what does that really mean when the rubber meets the road in live support interactions?

The term often gets reduced to remembering the last message or maintaining a conversational tone. Yet, when scaling support across 10,000+ tickets, we learned that context isn’t a feature toggle, it is a design discipline.

One telling moment came when our team realized that the AI wasn’t failing because it lacked intelligence – it was failing because it kept forgetting. [Read more…] about Building AI Agents That Respect Context: Lessons from Scaling Human-Like Support Across 10,000 Tickets

Beyond AI Appreciation Day: The year-round value of AI and robotics

August 7, 2025 by Mai Tao

By Freddy Kuo, chairman of Luminys, chairman of Sync Robotic and special office executive assistant at Foxlink

Since 2021, technologists have marked July 16 as AI Appreciation Day. The holiday provides an opportunity to recognize how AI is transforming both our personal and professional lives.

One of the areas where AI has been particularly influential is in robotics. With AI at its core, robots can think, adapt, and act autonomously throughout different environments.

While this year’s celebration has passed, it’s worth recognizing the innovation driving AI and robotics year-round. These technologies are not only reshaping industries but also redefining how we solve global challenges. [Read more…] about Beyond AI Appreciation Day: The year-round value of AI and robotics

CynLr brings object intelligence and vision of universal factories to UN summit on AI

July 14, 2025 by David Edwards

CynLr also opens new US center for business development

CynLr, a foundational technology building company in robotics and AI, is joining the United Nations AI for Good Global Summit 2025 to share its pioneering work in “object intelligence”, the technology stack that enables visual robots to intuitively learn to pick and handle even unknown objects without prior training, much like how human babies explore and manipulate objects.

CyRo is designed to handle unfamiliar objects and changing environments without needing to be pre-programmed for each new task.

CynLr’s work aims to lay the groundwork for “universal factories”, where decentralized micro factories can be programmatically repurposed to manufacture a wide range of products, supporting sustainable and personalized production. Foundation EGI raises $23 million to build ‘world’s first engineering general intelligence platform’

July 10, 2025 by David Edwards

Foundation EGI, developer of what it describes as “the world’s first Engineering General Intelligence (EGI) platform”, has raised $23 million in oversubscribed Series A funding, raising over $30 million total.

The company is accelerating its vision of turning manufacturing’s biggest bottlenecks into breakthroughs using domain-specific AI.

The latest round was led by Translink Capital with participation from RRE Ventures, McRock Capital, Escape Investment Management (Jim Scapa), Fifth Growth Fund, and returning backers including E14 Fund, UNION, GRIDS Capital, and Henry Ford III. The creation of new AI careers: 4 high-paying jobs that didn’t even exist five years ago

July 5, 2025 by David Edwards

As artificial intelligence continues to transform nearly every sector of the economy, it’s not just machines that are evolving – job markets are too.

While fears of AI replacing workers still dominate headlines, a quieter revolution is under way: the rapid emergence of entirely new, high-paying roles built around leveraging, managing, and guiding AI systems.

Experts at software development firm Azumo have identified four distinct AI-powered professions that didn’t exist just five years ago. These roles offer six-figure salaries and represent the cutting edge of human–AI collaboration – not competition. Genesis AI raises $105 million to build ‘universal’ robotics foundation model

July 1, 2025 by Sam Francis

Genesis AI, a global physical AI research lab and full-stack robotics company, emerged from stealth today with a mission to unlock unlimited physical labor.

The company is building a universal robotics foundation model (RFM) and a horizontal robotics platform, raising $105 million co-led by Eclipse and Khosla Ventures, with participation from Bpifrance, HSG, and visionary leaders Eric Schmidt and Xavier Niel.

Physical labor contributes an estimated $30-40 trillion to the Global GDP, yet over 95 percent of it remains unautomated due to the limitations of current automation solutions. Today’s robotic systems, such as industrial arms, rely on brittle, rigid, and overfitted software stacks. Google DeepMind launches new vision language action model to ‘put AI directly into local robotic devices’

June 26, 2025 by Sam Francis

Google DeepMind has introduced an efficient, on-device robotics model designed for general-purpose dexterity and rapid task adaptation.

This new offering, known as Gemini Robotics On-Device, is an optimized version of the Gemini Robotics VLA (vision language action) model, which was initially launched in March to integrate Gemini 2.0’s multimodal reasoning into physical applications.

Gemini Robotics On-Device is specifically engineered to operate locally on robotic devices, ensuring robust performance in environments with limited or no network connectivity and providing low-latency inference crucial for sensitive applications.
