Avoiding Catalytic Converter Theft: Ideal Tips for Keeping Your Automobile Safe

November 29, 2021 by Mark Allinson

A catalytic converter is one of the costliest parts of a vehicle. Many countries around the world have it within their laws not to allow any vehicle on the roads without a working catalytic converter. The exhaust fumes released by vehicles running on gasoline play a key role in global warming. Catalytic converters save us from this horror by negating the effects of these toxic gases. However, there is always a catch with such great benefits.

Catalytic converters, being as expensive as they are, is one of the key attractions for roadside thieves who are always on the lookout for precious materials to steal. The primary reason behind stealing these devices lies more in their composition than operability. The focus of this article is to make the public aware of the imminent danger they are facing from potential thefts. Honda tests prototype autonomous vehicle at Black & Veatch solar construction site

November 16, 2021 by Mark Allinson

Honda and Black & Veatch say they have successfully tested the prototype Honda “Autonomous Work Vehicle” at a Black & Veatch construction site in New Mexico. (See video below.)

During the month-long field test, the second-generation prototype of the fully-electric Honda AWV performed a range of functions at a large-scale solar energy construction project, including towing activities and transporting construction materials, water, and other supplies to pre-set destinations within the work site.

While Honda previously performed testing with an earlier generation of the Honda AWV, this field test was the first to deploy multiple units working collaboratively to support construction use cases. ‘Robotaxis will be disruptive to conventional taxis and ride-hailing, but not car ownership’, says new report

November 2, 2021 by David Edwards

Robotaxis remain one of the most pursued applications for autonomous vehicle technologies today, with many developers envisioning an end to – or at least a significant reduction in – car ownership.

Developers of autonomous vehicles, specifically those focused on Level-4 self-driving vehicles, often focus on mobility services as the first application.

Not only is there a demonstrated market for taxis and ride-hailing, but it’s a market where the high costs of labor create high prices, making it a ripe opportunity for autonomous vehicle deployment. Driving will be outlawed for humans by 2050, says IDTechEx

September 1, 2021 by David Edwards

Autonomous cars will match or exceed human safety by 2024, after which they will grow rapidly at aan annual rate of 30 percent, according to IDTechEx’s new report Autonomous Cars, Robotaxis & Sensors 2022–2042.

By the 2040s, they will be capable of fulfilling the world’s mobility needs without a single collision. So why should humans be allowed to continue driving?

For a long time, the parameters around how we can drive our vehicles have been restricted. Speed limits exist to increase safety, seatbelts are mandated to increase safety, and city centers are becoming pedestrianized to increase safety for pedestrians.
