HR Tech Entrepreneur Gergo Vari on AI, Automation, and the Future of Jobs

April 13, 2023 by Mark Allinson

By Gergo Vari, founder and CEO of Lensa

Automation has affected all sectors of activity. And recruitment is no exception.

In today’s labor market, where attracting and keeping top talent is more challenging than ever before, companies that implement AI and automation into their recruitment process stand to gain a significant edge over their competitors.

I founded the AI-powered online jobs portal Lensa in 2016 with the conviction that technology such as AI, machine learning, and automation could be used to help match job seekers and companies. And the results have surpassed even our (admittedly) lofty expectations. [Read more…] about HR Tech Entrepreneur Gergo Vari on AI, Automation, and the Future of Jobs

Employee management software provider Rippling raises $500 million in Series E financing

March 18, 2023 by Mark Allinson

By Parker Conrad, CEO, Rippling

Rippling, a provider of automated software for employee management, has raised $500 million in a round led by Greenoaks. The round values the company at $11.25 billion, the same as the company’s Series D financing in May 2022.

This was an unusual round, raised in record time and for a purpose that ultimately resolved on its own. It all started on Friday, March 10th at 5.30 am PST.

Rippling’s primary banking partner, Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), collapsed with dizzying speed on Thursday, March 9, and entered FDIC receivership on Friday, March 10. [Read more…] about Employee management software provider Rippling raises $500 million in Series E financing

Hannover Messe: Connectivity and climate neutrality

March 16, 2023 by Mark Allinson

The list of challenges facing industry is long: climate change, energy shortages, disrupted supply chains and a shortage of skilled labor. The solution to these challenges lies in the targeted use of technology.

At the same time, governments need to get their economic policy right. Hannover Messe 2023 covers not only technologies for connected, climate-neutral industry, but also provides a forum for a global policy discussion among industry, government, science and social representatives.

Dr Jochen Köckler, chairman of the Deutsche Messe group of companies, says: “Carbon-neutral production, artificial intelligence, hydrogen technologies, energy management and Industrie 4.0 – those are the overarching themes of Hannover Messe 2023. Automation in Construction: Researchers develop automated system to measure strain and acceleration of precast concrete structures

March 13, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Reserarchers at Chung-Ang University, South Korea have developed a smart portable sensing system for monitoring precast structures during delivery. The multimetric portable system uses an IoT sensor to simultaneously measure strain and acceleration of the structures real-time during delivery.

Precast concrete structures (PCS) reduce workforce dependency and construction time. However, they are subjected to vibrations and strain during transport from their manufacturing site to the construction site.

Effective quality control measures require continuous logging of vibration and strain measurement during the delivery, an essential feature that is missing in current systems. To this end, researchers have now developed a novel portable sensing system that can monitor strain and acceleration to enable efficient PCS delivery.
