ABB integrates ASTI and rebrands autonomous mobile robot portfolio as Flexley

ABB has launched its first range of rebranded autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) following its acquisition of mobile robot startup ASTI Mobile Robotics in 2021.

Since adding AMRs to its portfolio, ABB claims it is “the only company with a comprehensive and integrated offering of robots, AMRs and machine automation solutions”.

Marc Segura, president for ABB’s Robotics Division, says: “At a time when businesses are looking for a range of robotic solutions to help make them more efficient, flexible and resilient, we are the only company supporting them with our integrated offering of AMRs, robots, and machine automation technologies. Busy Beaver partners with Badger Technologies

Badger Technologies, a product division of Jabil and maker of a retail automation robot, says its multipurpose autonomous robots have been selected for some work by Busy Beaver Building Centers, operator of 25 full-line home improvement centers in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.

Following a successful pilot launched earlier this year, Badger Technologies is deploying production robots starting at a new store in Delmont, Pennsylvania, where associates seamlessly manage more than 33,000 Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) while embracing the latest in retail automation to improve operations and shopping experiences.

Neubility partners with Samsung to launch delivery robots onto golf courses

Delivery robots continue to expand their market while helping golf clubs’ technological makeover.

Autonomous robot delivery platform startup Neubility has launched what it says is “the world’s first” self-driving robot service on a golf course.

As part of that first start, Neubility has concluded an agreement with Korean Food Service Company, Samsung Welstory to provide autonomous delivery robots and plans to commercialize such delivery services for golf courses starting October. Peer Robotics raises $2.3 million in seed funding round

Peer Robotics, a new mobile robotics solution for manufacturing, has raised $2.3 million in seed funding led by Kalaari Capital, with participation from existing investors Axilor Ventures, Connecticut Innovations and Innopact VC.

Rishabh Agarwal, co-founder, and CEO of Peer Robotics, says: “Small and medium-size companies are struggling with the labor shortage today, not to mention high turn-over.

Intel’s new AI chip enables ‘real-time learning for robots’

Intel Labs, in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Technology and the Technical University of Munich, has introduced a new approach to neural network-based object learning.

It specifically targets future applications like robotic assistants that interact with unconstrained environments, including in logistics, healthcare or elderly care.

This research is a crucial step in improving the capabilities of future assistive or manufacturing robots. Robot sales reach record high in North America for third consecutive quarter

For the third-straight quarter, robot sales in North America hit a record high, driven by a resurgence in sales to automotive companies and an ongoing need to manage increasing demand to automate logistics for e-commerce.

According to the Association for Advancing Automation (A3), of the 12,305 robots sold in Q2 2022, 59 percent of the orders came from the automotive industry with the remaining orders from non-automotive companies largely in the food and consumer goods industry, which saw a 13 percent increase in unit orders over the same period, April through June, in 2021.

Dobot introduces expanded lineup of non-contact cobots

Collaborative robot manufacturer Dobot and its US-based master distributor DB Cobots have unveiled the addition of its 3 kg and 10 kg collaborative robots to the existing 5 kg version of the Safe Skin model previously available.

This expanded lineup will enable more industries and companies to use cobots with the safest technology available in their automation, says the company.
