Stäubli Robotics and Quantum Surgical, an innovative surgical robotic company, is developing an innovative solution, a combination of powerful software and robotic platform for minimally invasive therapies in liver cancer.

This strategic partnership aims to combine this “savoir-faire” to strengthen the role of robotics in minimally invasive cancer treatments and to build a “world leader”, according to the companies.

AECOM to partner with MnDOT and the City of White Bear Lake on automated shuttle pilot

AECOM, an infrastructure consulting firm, is partnering with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) and White Bear Lake on the launch of an automated shuttle pilot within the city.

The shuttle, which has been named “Bear Tracks”, will run for one year on a 1.5-mile route and be free to use, connecting area residents to several community facilities and businesses.

The project will incorporate key elements of MnDOT’s Connected and Automated Vehicle (CAV) Strategic Plan, including enhanced mobility for persons with disabilities, better travel options for elderly communities, and more public awareness of automated vehicle technologies. DHL opens new ‘highly automated’ fulfillment center for flatpack furniture giant IKEA

DHL Supply Chain, Deutsche Post DHL Group’s contract logistics specialist, is opening a new, “highly automated” fulfillment center in Bergkamen, Germany, for its customer, the Swedish flatpack furniture giant IKEA.

The new state-of-the-art DHL facility has been commissioned to help the home furnishings group handle its fast-growing B2C online business in Germany, which grew significantly during the pandemic and required IKEA to rapidly expand its B2C fulfillment capabilities.

Serve Robotics partners with Piestro to deliver robot-made pizzas

Piestro, a maker of a robotic pizzeria, is partnering with Serve Robotics, a maker of autonomous sidewalk delivery robots, to offer customers a totally robotic pizza delivery service.

When a customer places an order, Piestro’s scheduling system will notify Serve’s fleet and the nearest available robot will pick up the pizza for transport from a Piestro pod.

Automated pizza machine maker Piestro receives $580 million in pre-orders and finds new customer

Piestro says it has received $580 million in pre-orders for its automated pizza making machine. The company has also found a new partner, Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop.

Piestro says its robotic pizzeria produces “high-quality artisanal pizza within just a few minutes”.

Capriotti, a fast-casual sandwich franchise, will begin a piloted test of the Piestro Pod in Capriotti’s flagship Las Vegas location. Capriotti’s also intends to purchase up to 100 Piestro Pods within five years of such units being made available to the restaurant following the pilot. Industrial inspection startup Gecko Robotics raises $73 million

Gecko Robotics, a specialist in robotics and industrial asset management software, has revealed details of its Series C funding round of $73 million, led by XN with participation from Founders Fund, XYZ, Drive Capital, Snowpoint Ventures, Joe Lonsdale, Mark Cuban, Gokul Rajaram, and others.

The company says this latest funding round accelerates Gecko’s stated mission, “To protect today’s critical infrastructure, and give form to tomorrow’s”.

Turkcell and Ericsson perform ‘first’ 5G autonomous mobile robot demo in Turkey

Telecommunications companies Turkcell and Ericsson say they have successfully performed “the first” industrial use case demonstration of an autonomous mobile robot safe crossing in Turkey.

The demonstration was deployed in close collaboration with Ericsson’s Industry 4.0 partners, autonomous mobile robot manufacturer Milvus Robotics and a global manufacturer of sensors and sensor solutions for industrial applications at Turkcell Kartal Plaza/Captive Office.
