Locus granted patent for machine learning models to ‘accurately predict traffic time’ for last-mile deliveries

September 30, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Locus, a logistics software technology company (not to be confused with Locus Robotics), has been awarded a patent for “Machine Learning Models for Predicting Time in Traffic”, the second patent awarded to the company in 2022.

Predictability of last-mile deliveries is a logistical challenge that continues to affect businesses across various sectors such as e-commerce, 3PLs, and so on.

Locus’ new patent will enable enterprises to achieve better precision in their last-mile deliveries by factoring in traffic patterns, which have historically been considered too dynamic to map. 5 Ways Automation is Transforming the Shipping and Logistics Industry

September 29, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Shipping and logistics play a critical role in the growth of the economy. That’s true since all economic activities depend on the existence and efficiency of shipping and logistics. Therefore, no country can enhance its national income without the input of the shipping and logistics sector.

That said, shipping and logistics is the process in which products are delivered to businesses and consumers. And while it sounds simple, the process can be complex and time-consuming, especially when utilizing manual techniques. For that reason, firms in the shipping and logistics industries are leveraging the power of technology to streamline their operations.

One of the ways they achieve integration technology is through automation. It refers to the use of software to complete tasks and minimize human intervention. And for more information about automation in the shipping and logistics industry, you can visit Truckstop.com or any other similar platform. Kuehne+Nagel shows off solar-powered delivery trucks

September 1, 2022 by Mark Allinson

As part of the goal to create more sustainable supply chain solutions, Kuehne+Nagel is reducing CO2 emissions in the Netherlands with photovoltaics – solar panels – installed on top of trucks.

The solar panels reduce fuel consumption by up to 1.200 litres per year, per vehicle. This reduces a truck’s overall fuel consumption by up to 6 percent, lowering CO2 emission per truck by 3.8 tonnes on an annual basis.

Traditionally, trucks consume a large amount of electricity which is generated by the alternator. The photovoltaics now supply the trucks with solar electricity. When driving, there is a decreased load on the engine which lowers fuel consumption. [Read more…] about Kuehne+Nagel shows off solar-powered delivery trucks
