Unchained Robotics raises €5.5m in new funding

January 7, 2024 by David Edwards

Making truly plug-and-play robotics technologies accessible to every company is the goal of Paderborn, Germany-based start-up Unchained Robotics.

The automation platform covers over a dozen robotics manufacturers, finally offering SMEs broad-based access to standard robotics.

The new €5.5 million of capital will continue to fuel their global expansion and deepen their services and partnerships. [Read more…] about Unchained Robotics raises €5.5m in new funding

Festo unveils new ‘compact, simple and precise’ electric parallel gripper

December 11, 2023 by David Edwards

Festo has unveiled its new “compact, simple and precise” electric parallel gripper.

The automation specialist says modern manufacturing requires handling solutions capable of managing product diversity, shorter product life cycles and growing levels of product customisation.

The HEPP electric gripper from Festo addresses this need for greater flexibility in the gripping of multiple workpieces with adaptable stroke lengths and gripping forces. [Read more…] about Festo unveils new ‘compact, simple and precise’ electric parallel gripper

Trinamic’s open-source reference design ‘speeds development of end-of-arm tooling’

May 27, 2021 by David Edwards

Trinamic Motion Control, now part of Maxim Integrated Products, has introduced an open-source, fully integrated reference design that it says simplifies the development of industrial robotic end-of-arm tooling (EoAT).

The TMCM-1617-GRIP-REF reference design integrates hardware-based field-oriented control (FOC) and three communication ports to “shrink the design size of electronic robotic grippers by three times, while reducing development time by half”, according to the company.

The reference design features Maxim Integrated’s industrial-grade MAX22000 high-precision configurable analog input/output and MAX14906 quad-channel digital input/output to adjust the multiple modes of the Trinamic TMCM-1617 single axis servo driver. Record sales of collaborative robots reveal increasing demand for end-of-arm tooling

September 20, 2019 by David Edwards

With a growth of 23 percent in annual installations of collaborative robots from 2017 to 2018, the new World Robotics Report, published by International Federation of Robotics, shows a huge demand for end-of-arm-tooling, (EoAT).

In 2018 almost 14,000 new cobot arms were installed, and if this trend continues, that number will double in approximately three years, prompting an unprecedented EoAT market opportunity that OnRobot is ready to address.

For the first time ever, the annual World Robotics Report includes a specific analysis on the market for cobots, documenting a robust 23 percent growth worldwide. [Read more…] about Record sales of collaborative robots reveal increasing demand for end-of-arm tooling

Opinion: Robotic end-of-arm tools are shaping the manufacturing industry

April 17, 2019 by Sam Francis

OnRobot/Optoforce konference

By Thomas Knudsen, general manager Northern Europe, OnRobot

Within a diverse and innovative sector like the manufacturing industry, flexibility is key.

Robotics, a key enabler of this, has already taken this industry by storm, allowing factories worldwide to automate more and more tasks, cutting costs and increasing productivity.

However, simple automation is no longer enough. Manufacturers now require unique automation solutions for each specific production environment, to tackle the talent shortage they are facing, but can’t redesign facilities for every different process and application.  [Read more…] about Opinion: Robotic end-of-arm tools are shaping the manufacturing industry
