Drilling Deep Holes: Things to Keep In Mind

December 30, 2021 by Mark Allinson

Drilling deep holes is a complicated process. Unless you know the right methods, chances are, you will fail. Read this article to learn more.

Drilling is a cutting method in which a drill is used to make a deep circular hole in the ground or solid materials. When it comes to drilling deep holes, the process can get complicated as it involves precision and expertise.

However, the definitions of drilling are not absolute anymore. The question has changed from how deep the hole is to how to reach greater depths with newer, more advanced, machinery. [Read more…] about Drilling Deep Holes: Things to Keep In Mind

SICK launches compact 2D vision camera with deep learning onboard

April 16, 2021 by David Edwards

SICK is launching its first vision camera with a pre-installed Deep Learning app onboard to make it simple to create custom quality inspections of complex or irregular-shaped goods, packaging and assemblies, especially where they may have previously defied automation using traditional systems.

The SICK Intelligent Inspection Deep Learning App runs on SICK’s newly launched Inspector P621 2D programmable vision camera.

The all-in-one package enables machine builders and end-users to set up vision classifications using artificial intelligence in a fraction of the time and cost it would take to program challenging inspections based on recognising the pre-set rules and patterns of traditional vision systems. RE2 Robotics receives $2.5 million from US Navy to develop manipulation system

May 27, 2020 by David Edwards

RE2 Robotics, a developer of human-like robotic manipulation systems, has received $2.5 million in funding from the Office of Naval Research to continue the development and commercialization of its technology under the Dexterous Maritime Manipulation System (DM2S) program.

RE2’s DM2S technology will provide Navy personnel with the ability to autonomously perform mine countermeasure (MCM) missions.

In this next phase of the program, RE2 will upgrade its dual-arm prototype, known as the Maritime Dexterous Manipulation System (MDMS), for deep ocean use; apply computer vision and machine-learning algorithms to enable autonomous manipulation capabilities; and integrate with underwater vehicles that can autonomously navigate. ForwardX Aiming to Deliver ‘Best-in-Class’ Autonomous Mobile Robots

January 30, 2020 by Mai Tao

By Nic Temple, Vice President of Sales for the Americas at ForwardX Robotics

Given the proliferation of warehouses, distribution centers, direct to consumer (D2C) business models, fleets of AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots), questioning the validity of innovation is worthy of examination.

Unlike in prior years when attendees would walk the show floor for days, many are using the MHI MODEX app and visiting for just a single day.

For that reason, a compelling innovation from ForwardX (Booth 1207) should be the first stop for serious AMR decision-makers. [Read more…] about ForwardX Aiming to Deliver ‘Best-in-Class’ Autonomous Mobile Robots
