6 AI Construction Estimating Software Tested on Complex Project Accuracy

February 19, 2026 by David Edwards

One missed take-off line can add six figures to a bid. In a recent Procore survey, 48 percent of construction leaders called AI the most critical tech for future project delivery.

We put six AI-powered estimating platforms – led by enterprise veteran InEight Estimate – through a multidisciplinary test to see which ones nail the numbers fast and which still guess. The stakes: ship a rapid bid without giving up accuracy. Here’s what we found. [Read more…] about 6 AI Construction Estimating Software Tested on Complex Project Accuracy

Bedrock Robotics begins supervised autonomous excavation on live construction sites as it moves toward commercialization

November 20, 2025 by David Edwards

Bedrock Robotics says it has been conducting “the construction industry’s largest-known supervised autonomy deployment for mass excavation”, partnering with Sundt Construction on site preparation for a 130-acre domestic manufacturing facility.

On just this project alone, Bedrock’s autonomous systems have so far moved over 65,000 cubic yards by loading human-operated articulating dump trucks with the same workflow used in manual operations – a seamless integration that demonstrates a leap forward in commercial autonomous construction.

The company’s technology is now installed across multiple excavator models ranging from 20-ton to 80-ton machines, adapting its systems from compact units to large-scale earthmovers. Construction sector looks to humanoid robots as labour shortages intensify, says McKinsey

November 5, 2025 by Sam Francis

The global construction industry is accelerating efforts to adopt humanoid robots as it grapples with a persistent productivity slump and ongoing labour shortages, according to a new report from McKinsey & Company.

In a note emailed to Robotics & Automation News, a spokesperson for McKinsey highlighted the pressure facing the sector.

“Stuck in a cycle of meager productivity growth rates – which stood at only 0.4 percent from 2000-2022 – and with talent pools continuing to thin, it isn’t surprising to see that the construction industry is struggling to keep up with demand and is leaving no stone unturned in hopes of innovation – including humanoid robots.” [Read more…] about Construction sector looks to humanoid robots as labour shortages intensify, says McKinsey

Bedrock Robotics raises $80 million to commercialize its construction technology

July 16, 2025 by David Edwards

Bedrock Robotics, the company developing advanced autonomous systems for the $13 trillion global construction industry, emerged from stealth today with $80 million in Seed and Series A backing.

Rather than design and sell costly new machinery, Bedrock upgrades customers’ existing heavy equipment fleets with reversible, same-day hardware and software installs to enable fully autonomous operations.

With reindustrialization of the United States accelerating, Bedrock’s technology bridges the expanding gap between rapidly rising domestic infrastructure needs and shrinking workforce capacity. [Read more…] about Bedrock Robotics raises $80 million to commercialize its construction technology
