All About IoT Tracking Technologies

May 20, 2024 by David Edwards

IoT tracking uses small devices with wireless technology to monitor the location of objects like vehicles, equipment, or even pets. These tracking devices connect to the internet and communicate where the object is located using technologies like GPS, Bluetooth, or cellular networks.

The location data gets sent to a computer system or smartphone app so you can see where the tracked item is on a map in real-time. Different tracking technologies work better for different situations – GPS is great for outdoors, while Bluetooth is useful for indoor spaces.

IoT tracking allows businesses to efficiently manage fleets of vehicles or valuable equipment, and consumers can use it to keep tabs on belongings, kids, or furry friends. Setting up IoT tracking involves choosing devices and services that fit your range and tracking needs. [Read more…] about All About IoT Tracking Technologies

How Real-Time Location Systems are Modernizing the Smart City

January 17, 2024 by Mark Allinson

By Blueiot

The rapid development of the Internet and information technology – coupled with the utilization of big data, cloud platforms, the Internet of Things (IoT), and other related technologies – has facilitated the transformation of the “Smart City” from its inception in the United States under the name “Smart Earth” into the preferred architectural style and development trend in contemporary urban areas.

A “Smart City” is a city that applies information and communication technology (ICT) to collect, analyze, and integrate key data about urban operations, and uses this data to intelligently address various issues, such as industrial and commercial activities, public safety, urban services, and the well-being of the people.

In this article, we will explore how real-time location systems (RTLS) are modernizing smart cities by providing accurate and timely location information for people and assets, and how RTLS can enable new applications and benefits for smart city stakeholders. How does Bluetooth transmit accurate location and what functions does it support?

August 2, 2023 by David Edwards

By Blueiot

People spend 70+ percent of their daily life indoors. Indoor space become an essential environment for industry and academia to mine the value of location data. Therefore, an indoor positioning system (IPS) has generated significant attention due to its potential for diverse applications in a variety of industries.

IPS uses different criteria, one of which is the kind of signals used for locating, such as radio frequency signals, light, sound and magnetic fields.

Radio frequency signals are generally used for indoor positioning in popular communication protocols like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. This article focuses on Bluetooth and illustrates how Bluetooth determine accurate location. [Read more…] about How does Bluetooth transmit accurate location and what functions does it support?

How does Bluetooth AoA Positioning Technology Apply in the Industry?

June 20, 2023 by Mai Tao

By Blueiot

Bluetooth AoA/AoD positioning technology is a direction-finding feature added on the basis of Bluetooth in early 2019.

Based on the latest BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) Bluetooth 5.1 Technology, Blueiot applies the Angle of Arrival – Bluetooth AoA positioning algorithm to reach the unique direction of the incoming signals and position of the tag, which can reach 0.1 meter accuracy and improve the accuracy of traditional low-precision Bluetooth by 10 times.

So, which industries can benefit from Bluetooth AoA/AoD location technology? What changes have been made to these industries? [Read more…] about How does Bluetooth AoA Positioning Technology Apply in the Industry?

NXP unveils new chips featuring enhanced Bluetooth capabilities for automotive and industrial markets

January 29, 2021 by David Edwards

NXP Semiconductors has launched new devices within its KW3x range of microcontrollers (MCUs). The new KW39/38/37 MCUs add Bluetooth 5.0 long-range capabilities and expanded Bluetooth advertising channels.

These enhancements are made while offering seamless migration with hardware, software and tools compatibility with the previous generation of devices, KW34/35/36.

The connectivity MCUs allow Bluetooth LE devices to communicate at distances of more than a mile and increase the amount of Bluetooth advertising channels and advertising data within the Bluetooth standard, the predominant IoT protocol.
