Chalmers University selects Lenovo and Nvidia to build Swedish national supercomputer

June 19, 2022 by David Edwards

Chalmers University of Technology is using Lenovo and Nvidia’s technology infrastructure to power its large-scale computer resource, or supercomputer, Alvis.

The project has seen the delivery and implementation of a clustered computing system for artificial intelligence and machine learning research, in what is Lenovo’s largest high-performance computing cluster for AI and ML in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Alvis – old Norse meaning “all-wise” or “all-knowing” – is a national supercomputer resource within the Swedish National Infrastructure for Computing (SNIC). [Read more…] about Chalmers University selects Lenovo and Nvidia to build Swedish national supercomputer

QYSEA unveils new AI vision system for underwater drone for explorations

June 12, 2022 by David Edwards

QYSEA has unveiled a new AI vision system for underwater drone for explorations.

The development and deployment of compact ROVs (remotely operated underwater vehicles) in recent years have immensely helped users overcome the greater technical difficulties and efficiency issues involving professional small-scale underwater tasks, especially in 4K filming, operational work, and deep-sea inspections.

While the ROVs’ capacity in shooting, mobility, and power is continuously improving, the ability to accurately and actively lock onto subjects visually underwater remained a challenging bottleneck to breakthrough within the industry. How the MIT mini cheetah learns to run

April 25, 2022 by David Edwards

By Rachel Gordon, MIT CSAIL

CSAIL scientists came up with a learning pipeline for the four-legged robot that learns to run entirely by trial and error in simulation (see video below)

It’s been roughly 23 years since one of the first robotic animals trotted on the scene, defying classical notions of our cuddly four-legged friends.

Since then, a barrage of the walking, dancing, and door-opening machines have commanded their presence, a sleek mixture of batteries, sensors, metal, and motors. [Read more…] about How the MIT mini cheetah learns to run

Key Components of Building a Smart Warehouse in 2022

February 21, 2022 by David Edwards

The term “smart warehouse” refers to a warehouse in which many aspects of the warehousing operations are automated in order to increase productivity, efficiency, and accuracy of the operations.

This allows for more adaptability and capacity in the warehouse’s procedures and staff. In the traditional warehouse, to convey goods to the shipping docks, employees have lists of items that need to be picked up.

However, in the smart warehouse, robot carts load the ordered items into containers and then deliver them to workers for the next step making every little task automated. Orders are automatically received, and then the system confirms that the products are in stock before sending pick-up lists to the robot carts.
