B&R unveils ‘high-end’ computer for autonomous agricultural and construction vehicles
Industrial automation company B&R, a subsidiary of ABB, is adding a new high-end computer to its mobile automation portfolio.
The company says the new computer offers significantly more processing power and memory, giving it plenty of resources to implement autonomous functions for agricultural and construction vehicles or self-driving transport systems.
The computer is specially designed to perform in harsh environments. The housing temperature can be between -40°C and +85°C. The computer is also highly resistant to shock and vibration. [Read more…] about B&R unveils ‘high-end’ computer for autonomous agricultural and construction vehicles
SICK partners with Universal Robots for speed and separation monitoring system
Webinar: Fast Solution for Speed & Separation Monitoring in a Collaborative Robot Application
SICK and Universal Robots (UR) are announcing a new safety solution for the safeguarding of accessible robotic applications.
When combined, the sBot safety system and URCap from SICK increase productivity with immediate automated restart and profit from an easy configuration of the safety system directly from the UR teach pendant.
With this partnership, SICK and UR have created the fastest way to implement speed and separation monitoring for cooperative robot applications. [Read more…] about SICK partners with Universal Robots for speed and separation monitoring system
Data loggers and cold chain management: What you should know
Who could have seen that coming? In the era of COVID-19, “cold chain” has become a household phrase.
Or, if we’re not at that level yet, at least more and more people are thinking about what it takes to transport products over long distances, store them, and deliver them to end-buyers while keeping them at punishingly cold temperatures — sometimes below the average temperature of Antarctica!
Of course, the COVID-19 vaccines have sparked this interest in cold-chain management. Three vaccines have received emergency use authorization from the US Food and Drug Administration, received approval from the CDC, and are in the process of the most vast logistical rollout effort in human history. FPT Industrial uses Sherpa autonomous mobile robots to increase production
Powerful performance, advanced technology, real sustainability. And now, also a landmark target achieved. FPT Industrial announces the production of the 10,000th Cursor 13 NG engine, rolling off the line of its plant in Bourbon-Lancy (France) on March 9th.
First unveiled in Turin (Italy) in October 2017 during the FPT Tech Day, the Cursor 13 Natural Gas engine, in little more than three years, has won the hearts and the profit-oriented minds of even the most natural gas-skeptical transport professionals, reaching an ever increasing popularity and record sales.
Currently the most powerful 100 percent Natural Gas engine available in the on-road segment and the first purely NG engine specially developed for long-haul missions, the Cursor 13 NG is produced at Bourbon-Lancy, the FPT Industrial plant located in the Burgundy region of France. TCL implements ‘world’s first’ 5G-enabled autonomous mobile robots from ForwardX
The Huizhou factory of Chinese multinational electronics company TCL, specializing in surface-mount technology processes, has installed dozens of ForwardX Max 300 Lift Autonomous Mobile Robots to automate the movement of materials across the production facility.
So far, the project has resulted in improved productivity across the production process, less labor dependency for material handling, and a quicker inventory turnover.
The AMRs connect and communicate through a 5G network which was set up as part of TCL’s 5G+ Smart Factory Initiative. [Read more…] about TCL implements ‘world’s first’ 5G-enabled autonomous mobile robots from ForwardX
Comau launches new high-speed collaborative robot
Comau has launched its Racer-5-0.80 collaborative robot – or Racer-5 Cobot – which it describes as “a new paradigm in collaborative robotics” that meets the growing demand for fast, cost-effective cobots that can be used in restricted spaces and in different application areas.
Countering the belief that collaborative robots are slow, Racer-5 Cobot is a 6-axis articulated robot that can work at industrial speed up to 6 m/s. With a 5 kg payload and 809 mm reach, it ensures optimal industrial efficiency while granting the added benefit of safe, barrier-free operations.
Furthermore, the cobot can instantly switch from a collaborative mode to full speed when operators are not around, letting its 0.03 mm repeatability and advanced movement fluidity deliver unmatched production rates. [Read more…] about Comau launches new high-speed collaborative robot
Autonomous vehicles from Udelv and May Mobility to be used in futuristic Indiana project
Autonomous vehicles from Udelv and May Mobility have been chosen for application in a futuristic project overseen by the state of Indiana, in the US.
The project also involves Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF) and Energy Systems Network (ESN), which have jointly designated May Mobility and Udelv as the first two implementation of the “Future Mobility District” initiative.
The Future Mobility District initiative, established in collaboration with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC), aims to foster innovation through industry partnerships and propel research and development in advanced mobility technologies in Indiana.
